Loud noise in the left front suspension- Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi All

I drive a Fabia. This morning, as I was pulling out of my garage, I heard a loud clang form the front wheel/suspension when I turned the wheel. As I noticed, this happens only when I turn the wheel at slow speeds.. ie parking etc. On a straight line there is no noise. It makes a loud noise as if a metal rod is about to snap!!

What is this. Please help...

Tracking rod? Does it bang if you hit potholes? Because that might mean the ARB bushes are on the way out. (a known problem)

the usual cause is the front anti-roll bar shifting in its clamps causing it to

hit the subframe,

the the cure is to replace the rollbar with a modified one,

the old one has nylon sleeves that split,

I'd agree with that :)

My car has just started doing this the last few weeks. A fairly alarming clonking when driving over bumps or pot holse.

Thought my exhaust was banging away but no that is fairly solid on its hangers.

I will be interested to see how much a replacement Anti Roll Bar costs including labour.

I would have thought maybe check for a stone in the spring cup before we go ripping ARB's off. When the steering is turned the spring can jump in it's cup giving a loud noise.
