New Superb Tow Bar

Featured Replies

My new Superb Estate has arrived at last - it’s absolutely fantastic. I had a tow bar dealer fitted, but I would like to know if it is normal to have such a large amount cut out of the bumper. Has anyone else had a Witter detachable tow bar fitted and if so is it cut so close to the screw that holds the bumper, leaving such a gap between the electrics and edge of bumper?

Hope this link works - I havn't used photobucket before.

This is looking up at the bottom of the bumper from under the car.

Thanks in advance for any replies

Thanks for your reply, I'd be really interested to know how yours looks.

Bet you can't wait for Friday

Good Luck

Getting a Westfalia detachable tow bar fitted with hidden electrics.

No bodywork is affected and much less money than Skoda.

Phil.

Yikes that looks a bit messy. On the Yeti you get a Skoda supplied cut out with a frame and a door to hide it. Most all dealers have the jig for this and the part numbers. Not sure if you can use it for a Superb though - for it is the same silver colour as the extension to the Yeti bumper.

No my electrics are visible which I don't really mind, it's the fact that so much of the bumper has unnecessarily been cut away and so close to the screw that fixes the bumper. I just don't know what to do about it. I'm waiting for the dealer to get back to me.

If your electrics are fixed in that position, then the cut out is far to big, and should only be the width of the detachable swan neck.

Can't help with the towbar info but if that was my car they had butchered then I would be demanding a new bumper to be fitted - but this time not by the workshop chimp, that is appalling, especially from a main dealer!

I've had Brink detachables on my last few cars. Expensive but well hidden and so simple to remove/replace.

I may not need one on this, but just in case, I'd like to see pictures of the finished article if poss.

Thanks Ian140. Perfect.

What kind of cost?

Just collected my car and it looks like it is impossible to fit a tow bar without cutting into the bumber, but here are the pics of my removable tow bar, cost me £500 all in.

Rather than cut right through, they have just cut a square panel and left room round the fixings. I can now purchase some plastic or make my own fiber glass flap like the yeti with some simple clips to hide everything.

Just got a quote of £311.00 for Westfalia detachable with hidden electrics fitted.

No bodywork hacking.
