Sports Suspension

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Quick query regarding sports suspension and the superb. Driving in Ireland motorway and the usual back roads.

Does the sports suspension improve the handling? or will the ride and road noise, be too harsh.

Wheel choice would be 17 if that makes a difference.

Is there much clearance difference between normal and sports suspension?

Any views appreciated

Thanks

I have not seen any mention of sport suspension for the MKII Superb, however it would be lower and a bit stiffer than std so may not be ideal for road conditions over there.

I know a few Audi owners claim the (S line?) sports suspension is too harsh for UK roads.

Hi!

Why do you want a sport suspension on a Superb? That is, to me anyway, like buying an Lambo and use it for shopping. I know that some ones still do just that but then again you might wondering about what they are buying... Back to the Superb: For me its is (at least I hope so...) a comfort car foremost. If you wanna have a sporty car, buy a sporty car like Audi or the BMW. To try to convert a Superb to a more sporty edition is useless. For that reason there are a lot of better cars. But I have to ask my self why I went for the 170 CR when a 140 would have worked very well also... :D

It is an option that is available with the car.

Some people make reference to an improvement in handling with sports suspension.

I think the Greenline version has sports suspension.

As an option, is it worth it?

How much extra is that option? Is it worth it? Only you can answer the latter question after a test drive. All others will be influenced by preferences you don´t know anything about.

Sorry for the vague answer. :(

I opted for the sports suspension without really wanting it. Basically I wanted 18" wheels not the standard 17" and it was cheaper (here in Australia) to buy the sports suspension and wheels than just with the wheels by themselves. I too am anxious about the change in a firmer ride. Only time will tell.

I have sports suspension on my Tdi 170 with 18's and it does improve the handling. Comfort over the bumps is far better than in my last car (2008 Audi A4 Tdi) that also had sports suspension. Personally I would get it again as it improves the looks as it rides an inch or tow lower too.
