Clutch issue

Featured Replies

tonight my clutch seems to have started playing up.

if left in gear (say 1st for example), clutch fully pressed to the floor it sits as it should, not moving but then it will feel like i have lifted my foot and it bites slowly pulling the car along.

when it goes like this it can also be tricky to pull the car out of gear as if i'm not pressing the clutch pedal far enough.

anyone had this issue or know what this is likely to be?

its pretty worrying, especially as the price of a new clutch seems to be rather high!! or that could be because so far i just checked out the price of an uprated sachs clutch :S

CRB probably

Clutch creep due to faulty clutch release bearing, clutch master cylinder or air in the system and needing bled.

From the way that you have described it, ie press clutch pedal down > clutch clears okay > after some time clutch starts to bite, I'd reckon that something is causing the slave cylinder to move the bearing back - ie the fluid is getting back from the slave cylinder or escaping back across the seal or out of the slave cylinder. But that does not exactly say conclusively which part is faulty!!
