I was going 60mph with cars behind me on a country road at dusk. Stopping was not really a option, besides it's illegal, but the next car take it. Aparently

Exactly right! If you run it over, then collect it - you're poaching. If you see someone else run it down and you collect it then its fine

Hope it didn't do too much damage!

Do I need an entire new front grille & surround? Or can i just replace the black bit?

Even with 312mm brakes there was no possibility of stopping!

You must have a fat induction kit to suck a pheasant in there!

If that's the only damage it did, then you are a lucky boy!

You can buy any of the grille parts individually I think.

I hit one a couple of weeks ago in a truck and it obliterated the windscreen!

That wouldn't stop me picking up the Pheasy. Have a look on ebay for the grill, must be some around.

I hit one at 70 in a MK 1 Clio. It was right in the middle of the windscreen, I really thought it was coming through but luckily it didn't! Just had a big fat white mark on the screen... not very nice to look at!

You would be as well going to a dealer if one is resonably local, or phone and they will post it out, Just need the black bit and I think about £14 (When mine did the same)

Stupid Phucking Pheasants! :@

You're right about stopping to pick it up as that would be poaching (you killing it), however the person in the car behind can do it as it is classed as Road Kill to him.

Ouch! :o Or should I say Oh Dear, oh dear. :giggle:

I'm surprised at only £1200 it might have been a write off.

Actual cost was over £1200 - however that was getting parts at discount from a friend who works at the local VW dealers with a 30% discount - plus the bodywork was just fitted in when my other friend (who runs a bodyshop) was quiet in the evenings.

Actual insurance company estimate was over £2500 using a Skoda dealership and bodyshop - hense the reason for the offered write-off. Asked if I could buy it back - they said no - so i told them to shove it - i'll fix it myself!

i used to love wiping those pheasants out in the old mondeo! used to get about 2 a week when i was doing 400miles a weekend home and back! i wasnt to worried about the mondy as it was only a £1500 motorway runaround but im a bit more cautious driving 6K of motor around :giggle: never had one cause that much damage mind!! i cracked my front splitter and got one wrapped round the wheel which took my front mudguard clean off but that is quite an acheivement. My mate hit a badger in his black furby on the way back to cosford once though and that did some damage cracked front bumper, light, fog light half the grill.

After removing the remaining feathers it became apparent that I needed a new chrome grille effect surround also. The Grill, surround and vRS badge was £81 from TPS.

The vRS doesn't seem to be any where near as robust as my old Vauhall Agila 1.0. I hit a Badger, a Fox and a Sheep and it was only the latter that caused so much as a scratch. Then again its was hard to hit anything at speed beacause speedy that car was not!

Lol are you AIMING for them?
