fabia vrs wheel spin

Featured Replies

hi guys was just wondering how people with vrs' mapped over the 180/200 bhp mark, how they manage to get the power down?

mine is standard and spins it's wheels so with the extra 50 bhp and ft/lb of torque it must be a struggle to get it down?

When i had mine I short changed 1st and didnt really put foot down till 20mph in dry, 30 odd in wet...

thats what iv found works with mine

would you recommend a remap?

Yeah i just feed the power in. The wet is terrible, but it doesnt take long before you learn how to pull away quickly and smoothly.

absolutely. Shark seems to be the favoured option to be honest. Really transforms performance. price hike on insurance and does have effects on clutch life/turbo life etc.

but it makes car so quick in straight line. As fast as a cooper S and an s reg 535i auto from 40 -***mph. I know, as both are my brothers cars... :)

Diff helps a lot, but I can kiss goodbye to first 2 gears in all conditions, and kiss goodbye to 3rd in the wet. And I haven't got the issue with thumbping low down torque either, it is pure revs/bhp which cause me wheelspin. I just need to drive around it although in the bone dry warm, 2nd gear "wheelspin" stil makes the car accelerate like a rocket B)

cheers for replies

think ill have a word with insurance then if it only causes problems that you can soon get used to

I also depends on the tyres and tread levels you have got. The cold air temperature may also play a part, if you have summer tyres.

You've hit the nail on the head there Jim, tyres play a massive part in this.

If you need to go quick off the line in the wet, forget about 1st and use 2nd instead :)

As mentioned 1st is no go and 2nd basically in wet even 3rd can be a problem. In the dry 1st is still no go but 2nd on is good with the new Tyres I have on it she grips really well

I'm running 190bhp/290lbft, it can be a handful but u learn to drive differently

I just leave the traction control on. And I drive the car according to the conditions. If you're spinning the wheels you are not in control of the car as you have lost traction, just as if you were skidding or aquaplaning..

I honestly can't remember the last time I spun the wheels. I probably explains why I can get 40,000 miles out of a set of front tyres too.

Must admit I've not had the Traction intervene on me yet, but then I guess everyone will think I drive like Mr Magoo!
