+1

If we make this a sticky we could take the opportunity to prune some of the less relevant current stickies.

Started from scratch with a fresh post.

Please let it end!!

And there was much rejoicing.

If you want 6J x 15 steel wheels for an Octy 2, the part number is 1K0 601 027C

I'm looking to geta a set of steelies for my 2.0d Scout too (Thanks for the info above)

BUT

How do you stand insurance wise with fitting a slightly smaller tyre with a lower speed rating?

Had this conversation with my insurers today. They originally wanted to charge me more for modifying the car (change of wheels), when I pointed out that I was replacing the alloys with steel wheels and tyres that were more suited to the conditions which made the car safer it was pushed back to the underwriters who said that there would be no extra charges...

Get past the untrained first line and it should be ok...

Well I got them fitted just in time for the foot of snow we have had this week. Only had the TC cut in a couple of times on a steep hairpin so performing as well as on the old MkI.

For anyone that is interested I went for trims in the end just to help protect the calipers and discs as much as possible from the salt and Winter cack. I went for these ones that were a close match for the RIF trims from the Yeti. I thought that they looked reasonably good compared to a lot of the ones I have seen. A mate got them off e-bay for me including the wheel centres for less than £40 (£120 for genuine RIFS). I have pics but can't work out how to load them up so take a look below.

Just got my wheels back from the powder coaters, done in high gloss black, they look awesome. Will get some pics when they go on my car next week.
