Bleedin' cat

Featured Replies

Any ideas on how to stop a local moggy climbing on the roof of my (occasionaly!) nice shiny bmp L&K leaving it's muddy pawprints all over it on a nightly basis??

Humane solutions preferred, but I'll try most anything! :wonder:

David.

Spray it with water if you can catch the little blighter in the act. Cats hate it and if they get hit a few times they will stay away.

I'll let others step in with the .22 rifle answers as I have 2 cats myself

One of hose high frequency sounders which are designed to scare off cats (and hoodies!) if you have children they may find it annoying as they can hear higher frequencies too.

Don't use chilli or pepper though as recommended by some people. If they get it in their eyes they have been known to scratch their eyes out. Likewise, they can also pull out their full if it starts to irritate their skin.

Òh and dont get caught on video putting it in a wheelie bin :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

I can hear those sodding sonic monstrosities and I'm 31 :giggle:

And I don't own a hoodie

Let it sleep there and be pleased with yourself that you provided some much needed heating this time of year for a living creature.

You can always wash those paw prints...

That's what I do...

Didn't work on our cats. they used to sleep beside the neighbours ultrasonic 'deterrent'. I think they just did it out of bloody-mindedness, cats are like that.

If it was my cat I'd have no objection to you firing a super-soaker etc at them to get them off.

Persuade another neighbour to buy a soft top. They much prefer that, not only is it warmer but they can get their claws into it better.

More practically a plastic car cover might do the trick, they might not like the feel of it and it'll keep the claws off your paint because they will scratch it jumping off and on.

As a cat owner id agree with the spray with water until they get the message(id do this to mine if it dare sit on my car),you would think they would sit on the bonnet as its warm.We have a guy in our street with a mx5 soft top & every morning there is 2 or 3 cats asleep on the roof! (not mine i must add!) as he is a proper knoooob the whole street finds it highly amusing!

Stick a dog inside the car

If you don't think kids nicking it will be a problem, get a (realistic) rubber snake and leave it on the roof. Cats hate snakes and will keep well away. We have a couple we got from Early Learning Centre which we use to keep cats out of our back garden. Just don't forget to take it off when you drive away. Or tell the police it was worth 80 grand, like that guy on the news!

Are you having a laugh?? :dull:

I'm all for the water treatment emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Hold it's head under water and see how long it can hold it's breath

that's a practical, helpful answer. I'd just wash the paw prints off and be done with it.

"Much needed?" LOL.

Would that be a response from a cat owner by any chance?

I suppose your going to say next that it's fine for a cat to **** all over my lawn as well.

Do you have a sunroof ?

I was forever having to brush cat hairs off my MX-5 roof. I tried squirting my cat with a plant water spray bottle, but later on in the day she attacked it :D

flier and magicpants I'm not laughing. Actually I was being dead serious. Feel free to laugh at me or disagree. I'm actually a dog owner but I have something for all animals.

As for your comment "Much needed?" LOL, try sleeping outside for one night and than tell me if you wanted to search for a place to heat yourself.

I think I would rather clean off mud than blood! :giggle:

At the end of the day the owners should have a cat flap so they can come and go as they choose, that's why my cats never go on cars when they can sit in their basket near the boiler or radiator

I1ve never had a cat on my roof -- I put the car in the garage when not using it !!!!!!!! lol
