Yet another crash!

Featured Replies

Ok, first one wasn’t my fault at all & the guy just ploughed straight into the back of me while i was waiting to turn right.

This took 9 months to get repaired due to incompetence of the repairers - had to be done 3 times!! But got there in the end.

However, this what happened to their car......

However, today i was going down a country lane, about 15 to 20mph due to snow & the backend slide out around a left hand bend. Managed to correct it but the VW Touareg coming the other way couldnt slow down in time & it caught my back end - ouch! My fault as i was the one sliding. Could have down without the £300 excess before Xmas though!!!

:(

Ouch :( At least it was at a low speed and nobody got hurt

The Furby is absolutely useless in the snow. I had cars of all shapes and sizes going past me when I got stuck trying to get up a small incline this morning.

Yeah, no injuries in the last one. Felt sorry for the woman mind, she was on her way to Nursery with a 3 year old & a 6 month old.

Kids were fine - seemed to be smiling quite happily.

First accident was quite bad - i suffered quite bad whiplass that i still not fully recovered. I get really bad backache some days.

driving to fast for road conditions whoooops

going to cost a fair few quid to repair that :'(

couldnt agree more, its a brilliant little car, apart from when snow strikes, then its better to walk.

Don't repair it until after Christmas and then you won't have to pay the excess till then!

Just replace the rear lens!

Still drives fine.

Two words: Winter Tyres. The standard tyres are ****e in snow.

Going in for repair on Friday.

Looking at it, its only the rear corner planel & the light-cluster. The Door is fine (apart from a very minor scrape) & the bumper looks undamaged.

Funny enough the fuel filler cap still works!!!

15 - 20mph is just to quick in snow with the vRS on summer tyres I'm afraid.. the minute a bend approaches it's a game of chance.

I lost it at 15 on a round about in 2008's snow and ended up needing wish bones and drive shafts and all the other bits and pieces..

You and me are a warning to everyone else... 15 on anything that isn't straight is too quick!

Hope it works out quite cheap mate.. I paid to fix mine and it ended up being around 1200 :( but at least I didn't get shafted for the next 5 years through my insurance premiums.

Yeah, i was going about 20mph on the straight bit started to slow down for the bend (got to about 15 mph), unfortunately the other car was there so i tried to slow down a bit more but that put the back end into a spin. I thought i had gotten away with it as i passed the other car & thought to myself 'oooh this is close, this is close..... ' & BANG - hit the rear quarter.

oh, accidents do happen.

Claiming on my insurance. Got it protected anyway, i know its going to put my premium up a bit next time i renew - but thats the price you pay!!

btw - wonder how much its going to cost to repair it all?

I would say i need a new bumper (physically ok on the outside but split on the inside), new light cluster & new rear quarter. No idea how they are going to fix that as i dont think you can buff that dent out!!!!!! :giggle:

you can get that rear knock out! i would say between 500£-800£ if done private

Never had any trouble with the fabia in the snow tbh, loads of weight over the front end for traction and found the rear pretty well planted. (mind you I did have ESP, worth its weight in gold)

Sorry to hear of your woes though, at least no one was hurt :)

front end wasnt the problem, it was the back end that let me down!!!!

I have to second the winter tyre comment (Probably true for the 4x4 that hit you too as they may have been able to stop or avoid you).

Don't admit fault, just state facts and leave it with the insurance, as they may try and argue things and you don't want to end up in trouble for costing them money they thought they could win back.

Aready admitted fault.

To be fair it was my fault, i caused the accident & I dont want to be a **** about it. She was a really nice woman with two young kids in the car & she was really carm about it.

As much as I understand why you did, the first thing any insurer says is NEVER admit fault, it's part of your policy.

Matt

Dont worry could have been alot worse, consider yourself lucky to walk away. Just be gentle as possible in the snow.

Looks like the Fabia Can take a smack, look at that corsa.

Anybody know what safety rating they have?

That tye of Corsa = 2*

Fabia p(both 1 & 2) = 4*.

oh dear.

Just dropped my car off to the repairers. He quickly looked over it & said it might be a total loss because the rear quarter needs replacing.

I think it depends if theres any suspension is damaged.

Damn!!

id say it was a lot easier and safer to walk. Stick the fabia in the garage and walk everywhere.

Does it need replacing to be safe.. or just to be as it was?

I'm just thinking that if it were me faced with it being written off over that damage, and the panel was just a mess rather than un-safe, I'd not use the insurance company, get the suspension checked over and assuming all was well mechanically get as much as possible pushed out. Then paint up and cracked/scratched paint and keep it until it was worth a bit less.. what's an 53 worth these days... 3.8k? Can't be more than another 3 years before it's down at 2k? Then it's not a silly loss.

Or break it?
