I'm an idiot...

Featured Replies

So one of my headlights goes with an audible pop at 6 this morning as I switch em on. "Excellent", I think. I drive to the motorway with only one headlight working and stop off at the services at j8 for a swift coffee before continuing to work. Getting back in the car, of course, the other one goes too. "Fantastic", I think. I continued my journey with the fogs and sides on like a naughty boy and popped into Halfrauds (I know, I know) during the day. £24 poorer I then attempted to fit the damn things on my lunch break.

Ten minutes of swearing later they were both fastened in place but when I switched them on, neither of them worked. The side lights came on, but no dipped beam. The swearing increased to epic proportions as I pondered the puzzle before me. I unplugged and plugged them back into the socket things, still no radience. Thinking I'd mixed them up I plugged the old ones back in but still no glow. I ensured the blown bulbs were safely out of sight and tried again with the new ones. Still no luminescence. I unplugged them again and looked at them to see if they were duds - they looked OK! I plugged them back in and tried once more. Still no scintillant rays. My fevered brain grew increasingly enraged as I wondered if turning the stupid plug thing the opposite way would help. Still no goddamn light. By now my hands were in tatters, the bulbs still weren't illuminating and I was getting incredibly close to finding a radical solution to this particular problem by throwing them down onto the frosty ground and jumping up and down on them in fury.

After about half an hour more of swearing, of plugging and unplugging, switching them around and basically trying to look as if I knew what I was doing, I was preparing to drive back to Halfrauds to raise hell when I was struck dumb by the sudden realisation that the reason they weren't working was because I hadn't switched the ignition on as my car keys were in my pocket! I put the keys in the ignition, took a deep breath and turned the light switch to the 'On' position and hey presto... I was bathed in a heavenly glow!

The sun is gone, but I have a light... B)

Buy yourself a nice cosy hat to keep that brain warm, and ticking over ;)

Haha. At least you can laugh about it. I did the exact same thing a few weeks a go :)
