Top Gear

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Has anyone else filled out the Top Gear car survey they mentioned on the program last night? Wouldn't it be good if Jeremy had to say just how good Skodas we're.

Go to -.

  :bttt:

I have yet to see Top Gear from last night, but I'll follow the link anyways :D

I Filled it in with my thoughts

I filled in mine honestly too - Even said that the gearbox was very reliable, omitting the fact it seized up today when the headlight cap falls into the cables due to driver negligence!

Done:)

You're lucky there wasn't any questions about "operator error" mate!

Filled it in too - v. positive (which is the truth IMHO!) without laying it on too thick :D

Apparently I am too young to participate....they only want older cars. :(

"Apparently I am too young to participate"

First time for everything, eh Denis?

:D

Done!

Yes, and I know from recent experience that it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks.

Stimps, following on from your recent comment about the size of Christian's picture, and lifting a comment spoken by Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich, "You might want to rethink your signature."

"You might want to rethink your signature."

Hmmm... it is a bit on the small side I guess.... :)

Started off filling in the left hand column at first

This isn't too far off topic, but have I missed the screening by Top Gear of the recent attempt to set a new speed record for towing a caravan?

That was on Sunday I think (missed that bit though). Probably repeated on one of these digital

channels at some point...

I'm afraid you have Denis , it was this last week, the car they used blew a piston after the 2nd or 3rd run.

What speed did they reach? IIRC, the car was heavily modded by Norriss Design and had a sub-3 second 0-60 time. An Evo, perhaps?

Yeh that's it an evo ( sorry on the phone while trying to watch), I think they topped 125 mph but first the caravan started to drop to bits then as I say they blew a piston (oil everywhere)

Ah yes the Norris Designs Evo 7 :D A mere 771bhp on high boost. Its totally useable on the road. Simon uses it as a showcase for his car company.

Martin Hadland still holds the record for caravan speed towing btw. Martin's car is yet another one that can be used every day. He drives it to all meets and last year drove it down to the Ring for the weekend (oh and there is now ay on this planet I could keep up when he tried!). It was fun following him round doing a 'photo shoot with the guys from Redline. My car was used for taking the stills shots round the Ring of the 2 Reyland cossies and Gossy's car was used for taking the videos.. His most recent figures were:

0-60 in 2.89s

0-100 in 6.06s

Quarter in 10.66 @ 136.95mph

194.7mph!

And that was at only 1.8bar boost and on Continental Rainsport Tyres!

As I said, fairly brisk! :D
