VAT free offer

Featured Replies

Thinking about biting the bullet and ordering an Octavia vRS TDI to replce the wifes Fabia vRS.

For some reason I thought that I had read on here that the VAT free offer had been extended to cars ORDERED before the end of the year. I know it was initially cars DELIVERED before the end of the year.

On Skodas website it still states delivered before 31st December.

Was I making this up!?

Nope - you are right, it's if it's ordered by31st Dec ! Had this conversation with my dealer today & they have a big sign up advertising it...still wasn't enough to tempt me...best deals at DTD !

Nice one mate, thanks! There's a chance we might get a nice Christmas present then!

I know what you mean about the drive the deal prices. Very tempting. Problem for me is that I'm in Scotland so don't get free delivery and since the (rumoured ;) ) dealer is in London it would cost me a fair few hundred pounds to pick the car up. This means that if a dealer can get within a few hundred of the DtD price I'd rather go with the dealer.

Can't see my local dealer giving me a penny off the VAT free price but I'll try a few and see what they say.

On a related note- does anyone know about the Skoda finance offer- specifically the 5.4% APR one.

The example on the Skoda site is over three years, does anyone know if you still get 5.4% over longer (5 years preferably)?

I got my new VRS about a year ago. My dealer got within £300 of DtD price which meant another £1000 off the VAT free price.

Have you tried any other internet brokers?

I looked at the finance and the rate goes up the more years you have it over. 0% over 2 years emoticon-0100-smile.gif

...best deals at DTD !

Incorrect.

I purchased a very well spec'd 60 plate vRS petrol hatch from a local dealer in Manchester. I went in there with a quote printed from DTD. And they beat it. :)

Skoda Mitchell Cheshire Oaks where I bought my vRS they are still doing no VAT :D but there is a REALLLLLY long waiting for the new motor to arrive :( like 5-6 months due to high demand they say.

Highly recommend Skoda Mitchell Cheshire Oaks

This weeks Autoexpress had a column with current manufacurers deals & it states in there that the 17.5% discount is on cars ORDERED BEFORE 31 Dec regardless of delivery date.

Relief for me emoticon-0103-cool.gif

My dealer said its on orders taken before 31st December 2010.

I would also recommend Mitchell as my friend picked up for car from them and gave a excellent service (on a used car).

The low rate finance is only over 3 years. My dealer also matched DtD price, best thing to do it print it off and see what your local dealer will do for you. Personally I would not use who the cars are rumoured to be sourced from as trained monkeys no more then the staff, but many on here have used them and been very happy with the transaction.

Some interesting comments on there. We did the printoff the DTD price & ask the dealer to match it thing when we bought my wifes Mazda 5, they got that close that by the time we factored in the delivery from DTD it was a go-er (we are in bonnie Scotland too) It was quite an achievement given they laughed at us initially.

Sadly the Skoda dealer wasn't even interested in haggling any further - that's the trade in price & that's Vat free price, take it or leave it. It just made up my mind for me. Too busy to search/trawl round the dealer right now, so keeping ma pennies in the hipper for later.

must have hit their targets then :giggle: the same can be said for the local one to me, when my aunt and uncle was looking to buy, so they went else where and in the end they got a 1.8TSi L&K for the price that the dealer in question wanted for the 1.8TSi elegance lol

some dealers will do it, some wont. I think all the awards that skoda have been awarded has helped them sell the cars.

EddGee, just noticed your post - congratulations, you have clearly been well prepared & lucky at the same time. For me - DTD offered the best deal from the places I'd checked both online & locally (or more accurately, had time to check). I was undecided on switching & the lack of interest from my local dealer made my mind up for me. I've now bought a service plan to go with my extended warranty, so I'll keep my car until a better deal comes along for me.

Polocoupe - There is no doubt they have had a great time with sales & all credit to them. The cars are great & good VFM, but I am surprised that any dealer would want to throw further potential sales away. I was there to be 'converted' into a new car cycle yesterday. I bought used last time (9 months/5.5k miles) & might well do the same next time.

Well I popped into the local dealer today to get some figures.

I went for;

Octavia vRS TDI hatch manual

Race Blue

Xenons

Heated seats

Maxi-dot

Rear parking sensors

Spare wheel

I had expected him to tell me there would be no discount over and above the VAT offer, but he did knock just over £300 off. He also gave a fair-ish guaranteed trade-in price for the wifes Fabia (bearing in mind lead time for the diesel vRS is now 20 weeks so he's quoting 5 months in advance!)

I'm reasonably happy with how negotiations went- I don't think I've got any chance of getting more money off the car but am hopeful I may be able to chip off a few pounds per month on the finance agreement.

Oh, and you were right about the 5.4% deal being only 3 years. Salesman reckoned they don't do attractive finance deals over any longer than 3 years as they don't want you to keep your car for longer than that!

I'm also going to 'phone the dealer we bought the Fabia from (who is a bit further away) and see if he will beat the current quote.

All going well I'll be ordering before Christmas!

I rang 6 dealers quoting DTD price for a L& K 140 CR H/B manual. 1 matched DTD to within £50 & only 30 miles from where i live so placed the order yesterday. The other 5 were between £280-£700 over DTD price. Just got to wait 4 months now.
