Vrs Insurance - Again

Featured Replies

I know there's been alot of discussion recently about insurance on the vRS especially regards modifications but as my renewal is due shortly I thought I would have a look on elephant. My other car is insured with them so thought I would see if they are more modification friendly than E-Sure who the vRS is currently insured with.

In the interests of science I ran the quote for various possible future modifications just to see what impact these would have. Results as follows:

Vehicle: Standard 2001 Octavia vRS with alarm / immobiliser

Policy Details: 12 mths Fully Comprehensive with full protected no claims and

Hope you know that elephant is basically Admiral insurance under another name. If you do Admiral's online quote thingy, its identical format to the elephant one. Different prices, which is curious...

Im with Barclays, had a long discussion & anything that enhances the performance adds to the premiun but anything like better brakes or suspension to handle the extra power & make the car "safer" makes no difference. Things like spoilers add a bit, presumably they make the car more nickable & any change to the wheels & Stereos should also be notified including their values. (otherwise you will only get standard replacement if you have to claim)

Also check on policys to see the extras & excesses, mine gives full breakdown & accident recovery in UK & Europe + something like 45 days Full European cover & 3 track days with no extra excess.

If I had to pay all these seperately it would add a fair amount to the policy cost.

This was despite me telling them that the Fabia has alloy's to and it is a damn sight quicker! The second time we asked we were told the same except it was a under 21 years old and this has stuck firm. I checked with other insurance companies such as elephant and found they will quote me for alloys with no additional cost (also at a very resonable
