Anti-hijack

Featured Replies

Anybody re-programmed their vRS to do this?

And anyone in the North London area with a VAG-COM who might be willing to do it for me for a few beer tokens?

Anti-hijack as in automatic doorlocking? Or does the vRS have hidden flamethrowers? :)

Big K sorted out autolocking on my furby. Not a lot of car-jacking in colchester, but does a wonderful job of worrying passengers when all the doors magically lock :D

Also does a wonderful job of confusing Grandmah's when they try to exit the vehicle, how many times did I say 'pull the handle twice'. She almost ripped the thing off :(

Where in North London as I'm sure I can make a slight detour from my house to do it for you.

Barnet? South Mimms junction of M25.

Cheers. No rush yet, don't get the car back from Vindis until next weekend... :(

Do you have to do it with VAG COM or can it be done without?

Done this on my car and a couple of others. Very easy to do, although I'm a few miles from London ;) Details of how to do it with VAG-COM can be found in the Articles section if you find someone locally who doesn't know how to do it :D

Chris

Either VAG-COM or the 1552 (?) tool that the dealer uses....... :)

No worries Pm me when you are ready.

Will the garage charge me for it if I request, as I pick the car up on Friday.

I would think they'd be happy to do it FOC during PDI if you ask them nicely... :)

edit: I think new cars may have that programmed as standard. But still worth asking.

depends on the garage. Some don't even know about it. If they do, you should know that if they say it takes longer than 3 mins they are either stupid or lying.

Whenever I have done it, I get the line..

Is that it?

Vindis of Cambridge did mine foc.

It is an option that can be coded at PDi, the salesman should actually ask you if you want any extras coded.

Well he missed that question out!

 Never mind mate!

Help is at hand :D

Sorry but I haven't a clue what this is all about - please can someone explain?

The anti-hijack 'option' is to automatically lock all the doors once your speed gets to something like 7mph.

The idea is that once you've pulled away at the start of your trip, the doors remained locked, so no one can open the door when you're at lights or a junction and steal stuff or car-jack you.

Usually another option is set on the car at the same time which causes the driver's door to unlock when you remove the key from the ignition.

If for any reason the battery is disconnected, would these settings have to be done again?

Don't think so, as I suspect the ECU has its own power source...?

Don't think so, as I suspect the ECU has flash memory for these settings...?

Oooh, that'd do nicely! ;)

Are they hard to work, these VAG-COM thingies? I've seen them on ebay for about

If you're close to rooboy he can certainly sort it for you (in exchange for those beer tokens you mentioned). He's VAGCOM'ed my furby before to check for fault codes, but I'm sure he knows what he's doing :)

I'm sure once I get it back I'll be dropping him a line

Just thinking in the longer term if I had one myself I could trace faults and fiddle about with my car to my heart's content... unless they're hard to use in which case I'd probably end up breaking the device, the car, the laptop or all 3!!!
