New VRS Windscreen De-misting

Featured Replies

Recently when starting the car, I have noticed it is taking a good 10 minutes, sometimes more for the windows to start de-misting on my new VRS!

Today, I even had to resort to a de-misting pad then cleaning it afterwards with screen wipes because it made it filthy!

Anyone else have this problem, or recommendations to speed up the process?

Cheers

Stu

No tips, but disappointing to hear. Is everything on Max ? If snow is involved then it does take longer in most cars to clear the snow, then the window but not like you have just described. Maybe a dealer visit...

Everything on max, max heat (engine cold though), set to de-mist mode only.

Not tried it with AC on yet, that might help.

Seems to clear a lot faster when the engine is warm.

Was sitting in our Octavia Vrs last night waiting for it to demist and realised I was getting quite a draught in my face. I decided to angle the sunvisor so as to deflect all this wasted air back to the windscreen and it cleared a bit quicker. I found that it was now clearing from the top as well as the bottom. HTH

Thanks, never thought about that! Will give that a try too.

Always have the Aircon turned ON....This will clear any condensation much much quicker

Thanks, Dad just told me the same thing. Definitely going to give it a go.

Yes because the A/C operates as dehydrator also. Your windscreen will be de-misted in seconds. And put the temp at cold not at max heat. After your windshield is de-misted you can choose your preferable temp.

Just tried it, no difference, still took ages.

However, don't think the AC will have been working, outside air temperature was 2.5-3 degrees C.

Even when the engine got up to temperature it was still struggling to de-mist.

AC is disabled below 4c anyway, so using it below this temperature will make not difference. The AC is disabled below this temp to stop the evaporator/condensor icing up.

Thought so.

I've proved nothing so far then, hopefully will be a bit warmer tomorrow so I can test it then.

Keep us posted. Hopefully the aircon will do the trick.

It's not just the vRS, mine can take a while to demist if there is heavy condensation. I keep a microfibre in the car now to dry it off.

Yeah not a bad idea, I resorted to the de-mister pad which just truly mucked the inside of the window up, not good.

Wouldn't it be great if Skoda used heated windscreens? Last two Fords I've owned have had a quickclear screen -fantastic bit of kit, will miss not having this on the vRS when it arrives! :'(

Try turning on the air recirculating switch for the first few minutes of the journey, this clears my Honda in no time as you are not heating outside air,

Also with the snow we've been having, more "water" has been getting into the car via shoes - I've noticed the floor mats have stayed damper for longer where my feet have been. Better now the snow has gone but in a confined space like a car I suspect it takes while for the moisture to evaporate so will quicken the time it takes the windows to mist up.

Yeah, quite possibly, my mats did get quite wet over the winter with all the snow and ice (and now rain today!)

Hello I've noticed this is a topic that seams to be most peoples only issue with the new vRS.

One thing that may well help is to clean the inside of the widesceen with isopropal alcohol this cleans the windscreen which should help with this issue.

Also incase your wondering IPA is the active agent in rainx etc.

Even something like Autoglym Fast Glass to keep the inside glass clean will help.

My Mk1 Furbie is a pain in the arse for it though, freezing on the inside etc.

while these products help they only contain less than 10% IPA by volume using pure IPA does make a big diffrence.

Having been in a fiends car treated with straight IPA we could do 60mph in heavy rain and could see better without the wipers on than with them on.

IPA on the outside works great.

Have you tried Gtechniq products? Not tried there glass cleaners but the C4 trim restorer is quite frankly brilliant, so I wonder if treating the inside and outside would work

I had this trouble with my Fabia SE CR for the first few weeks after delivery but eventually went. Was frustarting though!! Eevrything i did wouldnt clear it!!

Must be something they put on the windscreen during production?
