Hi all,

I have had the "Old" vrs for 4 years now, just coming upto its 4 year birthday at end of Jan,

I am strongly thinking of getting the new Vrs, would you recomend this move from the desil to the new 1.4? I spose the charger/turbo combination removes the turbo lag, which I didnt really notice in the old one anyway.

Im going in for the MOT on monday, so will have a chat with someone in the garage, but just thought I would ask the users. Will I be disapointed?

I went from a clio 172 to the Vrs last time and was plesantly suprised, I will mostly use the car for comuting and long runs to north Scotland so cruise control and ride comfort would be nice.

Cheers

If you still love your VRS, then Id stick... the fuel economy will be your biggest unpleasant surprise. On the other hand its possibly never going to be a cheaper time to get a new VRS, only you can decide.

:o) yep price looks good economy is the big one at the moment...

Skoda offering tax free at the moment, so nearly 3k of the price. (I think need to check this when I get there.)

Diesel VRS? When?

(Sorry just trying to start debate!) :giggle:

As far as the new VRS compared to the old VRS, the fuel will definitely be a shock. That is the only thing I will say is wrong with the car. I personally like the DSG box.

I couldn't recommend it enough, apart from the fuel consumption.

i had a spin in a mk1fabia vRS a couple years back when i was at a rolling road day in the last motor. For want of a better word, id say 'Crap' summarised my opinion on it.

i didnt expect to like this new fabia at all as its not the normal sort of car id go for (i only went in for a little test piloting session tbh, but it was pretty good. It still has glitches that need tweaking to get it the way i like my cars, but its a million miles better than the mk1. the only reason the mk1 is any good is because its half decent performance with awesome fuel economy.

So if your driven by money and mpg then stick with it, but if you would prefer more power, a smooth power delivery, a better chassis, better build quality and a 3 year warranty with no MOT requirements then swap for the new car

Spot on way of explaining it

Agreed on whats been said.

watch by end of 2012 we will have a diesel VRS 170bhp 6 speed box

Is that because Skoda are replacing the Fabia with a MKIII version based on the new Polo chassis as I thought the reason there wasn't a diesel vRS offered this time around was because they physically couldn't get the 2 litre diesel to fit in the engine bay.

Apparently they are doing some re-engineering /re-modelling of the interior space within and outside the engine bay,it will be the 2.0crtdi 170bhp and a special edition with a whopping 190bhpemoticon-0103-cool.gif

Where did you hear that from?

It would be nice if was true.

I'd just like to point out this isn't dirrected at seboni121 just more of an observation.

I have to say I love that these there will be a desiel version comments keep coming up across various websites but the date keeps changing with no link to where this info is coming from.

Once I've got my Petrol VRS I'll try to get a picture of it bumper to bumper with a 170 passat for comparisons sake if I can, as I have serious doubts they can make it fit as the 170 looks like takes up a lot more space in the engine bay than I remember the 130 unit taking up. Though it is true that the passat has been face lifted a few times since then.

a diesel engine does not belong in a hot hatch. because it just becomes a hatch then

Seems sense to me, just like a diesel in an Alfa is sacrilege.

i dont think so personally. its a warm hatch not a hot hatch because it was alot slower than all the opposition.

You know its not a hot hatch when the group tests compare it to the 1.6 mini cooper which is another warm hatch and not the cooper S which is a hot hatch.
