VW505.01 PD oil availability

Featured Replies

I know this subject has been covered many times but I'm looking from a slightly different angle. I know what oil spec. I need, I just have difficulty finding it!

Availability of VW505.01 spec. oil for the PD engine on fixed servicing seems to be a problem for Fabia drivers. I assume Octavia and Superb drivers who have this engine are on variable servicing and therefore can pick up Castrol Longife SLX II from outlets such as Halfords or other high street motorist accessory shops.

Have any Fabia diesel drivers managed to find oil at local motor accessory shop or even better at filling stations? I now look at what is available every time I fill up with fuel at a different filling station, in the hope that I can come on here and say Fabia diesel drivers can get 1L top up bottle of oil from filling station xyz, I've been disappointed for the last year.

Looking at the list prepared by Denis (DGW) the following look most likely to be available at filling stations:

Esso 505 01 5W-40

Castrol GTD 505 01 5W-40

BP Special Visco V 5W-40 (fully synthetic)

Shell must have a product which meets VW505.01, but I cannot find what it is as my local Shell filling station only stock product suitable for

Millers oil do an oil specifically for the VW PD engine.

If you have a look on their web site it lists the local accesory shops that stock their products.

Hope this helps.

Money for a Ferrari v12 (and it's services) is far harder to find though IMHO :D

Opie Oils is a UK supplier of Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W-40 (fully synthetic) and does mail order. Check oilman's posts for e-mail contact address or do a Google search for the company.

Might sound obvious, but is it really expensive from the dealer?

I came across this -

Motul also do a 5w/40 505.01 specific oil, they also do a 0w/30 506.01-506.00-503.00 specific oil for people with extended oil change intervals.

Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W-40 (fully synthetic) works out to be about

Good idea,

I am going to contact the admin about this, perhaps organising a group buy on oil for Febuary, this will have a good discount and should bring the VW505.01 spec oil down to around

I would be interested in a group buy of the fuchs 505.01 oil maybe about 10litres

I should think i would have some. I'll know better nearer the time :)

Group buy good idea!

I know, thinking that for most people this may work out to be the cheapest option as postage is a fair few quid on 5 litres of oil...
