Octavia VRS FMIC

Featured Replies

I fitted an ebay fmic to mine and it was prety terrible. I couldnt get the clamps to tighten enough so the pipes just kept flying off in really awkward places to reach. 1st time it did it i nearly had a heart attack, it sounded like a kettle boiling and then an almighty pop and a hissing sound :S If i had been going up a slip road i imagine a really large crash could have been on the cards  i wouldnt trust them. possibly ok on a standard mapped car but im on a stage 2 running about 21psi. As for weather or not it works, i would say yes, after driving it for a couple of miles, the turbo side pipe work was roasting hot, but the pipe going to the throttle body was stone cold

thats odd i have the same kit, and apart from trimming the bumper to get it fit nice a snug i head no issues what so ever, i found it realy easy to fit. never had a boost hose pop of and it aint standard map either. when i connected all my boost pipes up i left them ALL loose until i was happy with how it all sat, who fitted it for you? im a mechanic so i did mine my self.

if your on a budget then the toyosport jobby of ebay is good.

Cheers dude top help to do list when i fit my silicone turbo hoses as erm i bought them cos they were shiney black to match my forge intake hose lol

Had no issues with my toyosports one in neary 10k of motoring, dunno how many miles it did before that though

looks like it

Does it include the flange for the air flow sensor and the vacuum in any of the pipes?

Err pass my kit has them but i never brought or fitted it

Can you remember which one you bought? there are about 3 or 4 that look very similar.

toyosports is stamped into it

Mine was a cheap kit but ended up being not so cheap.

Buy a proper one from Forge or Pro Alloy.

Unless you like a challenge :)

Thats why I'm making my own.

I fitted it myself, maybe thats why :giggle: might have another bash at it in the summer and use some different hose clips

I have a ebay kit for mine was a barsterd to fit works a treat and the way i mounted it looks fookin mean! It only took me a day to fit the hardest part is cutting the bumper to fit. Tip mount it as far back as poss unlike me i wanted it right up againt tge grill just made alot of work for myself!

Strange you find the Forge FMIC kit adds turbo lag with a K03s ???? my pro alloy FMIC with a K03s adds no noticeable (to me) turbo lag at all.

Granted the Forge is double pass and the pro alloy single, but I'd have thought the additional volume that both system add to the turbo system would be similar.

The pro alloy FMIC inc all additional pipes etc has an internal volume of 10 litres, but when you deduct 2.7 litres which is the volume of the removed OEM SMIC and rubber link pipe to the pan cake pipe your left with a total increase in the overall boost system volume over std of 7.3 litres.

Using the following calc..........Turbo lag = Vic/((AF start = AF final)/2).

Additional turbo lag over std with the pro alloy kit works out @ 0.135 seconds.

Bill.

I can deff feel the lag. Only minor tho but you put foot and you hear the turbo spooling up and no great increase for a second then BAM its in, change gear and same where it feels like the turbo is jus trying to catch up agaisn.

Could that be the map?

This other one I got is on std side mount and I came home last night pritty brisk and all parts were RED hot but the TB and intake were frozen stone cold. That's mapped too with decat and stuff.

Personlly I think for road use the std stuff is perfectly ok,

The forge is piddle to fit tho, once you realise you need to trim a few pipes to length lol.

Ive emailed toyosports asking about the air flow sensor flange and the vacuum take off.

Il post there reply in here incase anybodys interested.

just being curious ... but for a car thats fast road and not track with ko3 or hybrid... do u think there is a big difference ( to justify price ) between a fmic and an upgraded smic ?

+1 to the above... been wondering myself.

That maybe the case when it's only 3°C outside, what happens in the summer when it's 25°C ? Will also depend on boost pressure and road speed, more boost = more heat and slower road speed will lead to hotter temps. Working the car hard at 80-100mph is fine as you have a fast supply of fresh air, where as working things hard on a twisty road between 20 and 60mph will heat things up a lot more. If your front disks aren't lighting up the inside of your rims your just not trying hard enough.

Also wether you believe in god or science, a larger intercooler WILL take longer to pressurize than a smaller one.

Hello I am new here I am from Slovakia and I would need to advise you about the intercooler on my Octavia TDI 110PS.

What darkside give SMIC or FMIC kit for VW Polo, Ibiza, Fabia? Will it fit? While I Powerplus 764 jet coupling of ATD plus lined Organics HDS. I Releasing 163hp and 380nm for MAHA. I hope that all of you understand .. Thank you for your advice! Richard

Polo, fabia and ibiza won't fit as they are based on the wrong chassis. You have to look for golf 4, octavia, leon/toledo, a3. Though I'm not 100% sure if they would fit easily

I've got a THS one. It's very good for the money.

So I do not know but I have 1.9 TDi and the link is at 1.8 T.. And how about this: SMIC http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/upgraded-side-mount-intercooler-kit-for-1-9-td-ve-90-110-pd100-pd115.html

And why one of the Fabia, Polo, Ibiza does not fit? It looks great, and there is no place under the light?http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/hard-pipework-kit-for-seat-ibiza-vw-polo-skoda-fabia-with-seatsport-fmic.html

If intercooler is not a problem but keeping fit me no one vyrobi?.A to UNI set of pipes I do not like .. Thanks really very nice.

Richard

I think the side intercoolers are the same both between petrol and diesel. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. If I'm not then the THS one should fit in theory.

SMIC is the same petrol and diesel .. Clarkysz put a link to FMIC with piping and the link I thought of it at 1.8 T! Pipe will fit?

I would put the intercooler like best SeatSport. Front bumper need to cut not bother me.

She did anyone Seat sport intercooler to admin?
