Hi there, yes you can buy one, Skoda name is "engine grill". For fitting, you also need lots of other parts, brackets, insert nuts etc, about 15 pieces in total, all avaliable from any Skoda dealer, they sell lots to taxi drivers in cities with lots of speed humps. It takes a fair bit of fitting & you have to modify the two plastic engine side shields to fit them around the main front supports. Total cost when I bought mine 4 years ago was around the £170 mark, probably a bit more now. It's not very thick, nothing like a competition item for motorsport, but is sufficiently strong to take a few bangs & bumps, mine had a few over the years.

Hope you find one.

Cheers.

Thanks for that!

Just want one to protect the sump from the odd speed bump and kerb! ta

I had a feeling there were some "stud" things which required a fairly specialist (read expensive/garage) tool to be fitted into the chassis which the rear end of the metal sump guard was attached.

The downside of fitting, is that I believe it almost becomes a 2 person job to remove/refit so oil changes and the like turn into a bit more of a painful experience.

Sure you not getting mixed up with a s3 lower strut brace and rivit nuts

Pretty sure.... but I have been known to sometimes get things wrong in the past  Sure I read that information on here, so maybe the the original source was wrong, and I am just helping with a game of chinese whispers!

I would imagine it prob bolts in same place as s3 strut brace does onto subframe

you are correct

two captive nuts need to be inserted into the chassis rails on the car and yes you need a special tool to do this.

I have one on my octi and it is a pain to remove for the service but it is great for protecting the sump!
