Retrim in cloth?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is already posted, if so I can't find it could you point me in the right direction please?

Has anyone on here had a retrim in cloth? The seats are covered in watermarks from the snow, and I hate leather seats.

Dude, water marks will come out with a decent shampooer. Even a £60 vax carpet cleaner will get them out. no need for a re-trim if that's the only reason.

Hire a rug doctor and use the upholstery attachment... gets raved about on here for bringing the seats up the scratch

Indeed. Mine are covered in water marks from winter still. I just used some kind of Tesco's own car interior shampoo foam stuff last time I gave the interior a clean, and it worked a treat.

Auto Glym Interior Shampoo and some clean microfibres is all you need

just do what i did and get the wife to clean them for you :D

I agree with the op, been thinking about this myself. I realise I can clean my seats no problem, I just get sick of doing it every couple of weeks.

Seat covers for winter!

RUGDOCTOR!

rented for 48hrs from tesco for £24 (shared with parents as they did their 4x4)

seats come up like new. See my for sale thread for example.

Thread hijack:

I know seatsurgeons do a bloody awesome job...but i really can't justify spending circa £800 on upholstery. Anyone have any idea how much it might cost to get them done in fabric instead?

Current ones are filthy despite going over them with upholstery spray; I've just put some halfords black seat covers on them but they aren't a great fit. I was going to take the OEM ones off to machine wash, but I really hate the pattern on it....so am wondering if I can get a new set. Plenty of scotchguard before fitting, of course.

It'll still be north of £500 to get them done in cloth as the labour is most of the money. The leather covers themselves all come from China and are actually quite cheap (maybe £200 delivered into the UK).

That's what I was worried about...thanks for clearing it up.

You could always just get a set from a different car ;)

Very tempting....is it just the MKIV golf that has the same seat fittings as the MKI fabia?

On another note, is it easier to change the seats, or take the trims off and put on a new set from a golf?

Changing the seats will be easier.

It's not the golf that's the same seating setup, it's the polo, Ibiza, Fabia ranges.

No, Mk4 Golf is a different platform. The seats will fit, but will need the runners modifying to fit in the Fabia.

Seats from a 9N and 9N3 Polo are a direct fit, which is what mine are from. Ibiza 6L are a direct fit as well. Simply unbolt your old ones and bolt the new ones in.

Changing seats is dead easy. The rears are simply clipped into place, the front are 4 bolts a piece. To change them you'll need an M10 Spline Bit which you can get on eBay for about £2.

Thanks a lot....will hunt on the bay for some. Lots of 6N coming up....yet to find a 9N set.

Is that the MK III or MK IV polo?

It depends on where you are in the world. People refer to facelifts as different marks with the Polo for some reason.

In the UK the Mk4 is generally referred to as the Mk6.

This is the one you're after though.

The 3 door seats will fit in a 5 door no problem, you can just get into the back a bit easier emoticon-0100-smile.gif

That forum is where I got mine from.

Oh I see! In that case am very tempted by that set...pity everything else is a dark grey/black in the car...apart from the roof liner! Colour coordination wasn't a prime thing on their mind when designing the MK1 I guess.

How much should I look to spend? I realise the price on that listing is an exception...

Well I paid £135 for mine, which I thought was a bargain to begin with...

These are slightly more expensive than what you paid and would involve a road trip but are dark enough to suit everything else in the car...

Scrap that....compared to yours theyre rubbish!

I really like the interior posted by Softscoop, may keep an eye out for a set of these as mine are screwing my back up big time!
