RS power increase

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new here. I bought my "red RS love" few months ago and I love it.

Following day after I bought it I rechipped it to aprox. 205-210 hp. This is maximum you can get just by rechipping it.

It is amazing car, but now after few months I want more power... I have already met 3 cars that were faster (Audi RS4, BMW M5 and some Porsche)

I am thinking about new and stronger turbo that should bring power to aprox. 230-250 hp, but IS THIS CAR AND ITS CONSTRUCTION READY for this huge increase???

Any other tips what to do?

thanks

Jan

Jan,

Hi, happy your happy with your RS.

In short I know your RS4 experince, I'm running somewhere in the 220 range and it just went away from me...credit due thats one dam fine Audi.

As to power increases, yes!

I'm not up on it, cost wise as that would involove looking and then I would become tempted.

For a guide, check out APR and Jabba, both offer turbo and internal upgrades that can get you to 300+ and in between. APR's right hand drive turbo is due soon and is approx 4k (check please) and if I recall Jabba is somewhere in the 2k marker...Not sure of the pros and ons of either, but in short the 1.8t 20v block is fine...but don't quote me :)

APR US site has the basics.

What do you think? I think I could win some street fights in the category up to 1800 ccm then!

Jan

What chip did you go for and whereabouts are you based? This

influences the mods available if you are not in the UK. e.g Jabbasport are developing some interesting turbo packages but require the car to do a remapped chip to suit the engine mod state.

I am in Czech Republic. Chip was modified by GX Tuning company based here. They have cooperation with some German tuning company.

I have visited them today, maximum they can do for my RS in stronger turbo that would bring 225 hp. Plus another few hp from sport and bigger exhaust.

Jan,

Sounds like you have the MTM chip.

If you could come over to the UK car you would find Jabbasport's package worth looking at. It replaces the K03 turbo with the IHI unit and in its least powerful form has been tested to make 270 bhp, then 300 and full on 320 is planned. It is still in development on the Leon Cupra right now. In the meantime they reckon their remap and new CAT / exhaust on the KO3 will give 240. They are a small company and no, I dont have shares in them. This is just what I have found out.

Can you get any WRC bits from Skoda over there?

If they can make my RS power to +250 hp, then I am definitelly able to visit them in UK and let them rebuild my love.

Any written info about this package (IHI unit)?

Jan

Send me a private msg with your email and I'll send you more details as much as I can get as they are a small company.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between an uprated KKK turbo and an IHI unit ? If the IHI is superior why (apparently the KKK is old technology :?: ) are Auto-amd flogging it as the dogs danglies when there is something far superior for not that much more if you consider what you get ?

Another point/thing im wondering is this: basically, from what I understand the 4x4 and the RS have the same engine, its just the drivetrain absorbs more power on the 4WD. So if you where to chip and put an IHI turbo onto it, does this mean you could nulify the transmission losses and reasonably expect to reach around 270 BHP and much better torque figures, perhaps better because it is 4WD rather than FWD.

Seems to me that the IHI based conversion is superior but that is up to you to decide. Send me a pm if you want more details.
