Labour work...

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I have a front brake setup for the 312mm brakes. The calipers/calipers/pads are attached in 1 piece and the discs are another piece. I also have koni fsd shocks all round and the front cupra console bushes (which will need pressing into aluminium ring on the car).

I was wondering if anybody could estimate the labour time required to fit all of those or a guide price would be even better.

I know a mechanic who is very good and his prices are dirt cheap. If I tell him someone quoted me £150, he will do it for £130 or so etc.

Just looking for a benchmark price to give him, cheers

He won't be fooled if I say someone can do it for £60 lol

150 is cheap for all that work

I was charged £122.55 when I got my 312's put on

This was for...

2.5 hours Labour @ £40/hour

Brake fluid @ £4.30

VAT £18.25

I also paid £20 the calipers and carriers to be stripped and painted.

£150 for what you describe is a very good price IMO.

Skoda dealers charge £60 odd an hour so that's fair!

My mate does it for beer tokens so :)

I dont think you guys are reading it right. That price is just an example, he wants to know how much it would be, so he can tell the bloke roughly what the going rate is, then get an actual quote.

Only bit im confused with is do the shocks and bush need fitting?

That's cheap as main dealers go IMHO.

Edit: I mean compared to other brands.

Cheers guys.

I've had a quote for £200 so far and I know my local mechanic who is a little cheaper might do it for around £170-£180.

I'll try that guy for £150 as you guys say it's cheap and I don't want to skank him too much.

You'll be looking at about 7-7.5hrs labour for the front end work. The VW indy I use charges £45ph + VAT.

On the plus side the wheels would only have to come off once!

An alignment check would be crucial after the work is done!

Yeah I'll get that sorted too. Heard alot of people saying wheel alignment is essential after fitting bushes, especially as I am going to have even more work done around the front suspension arms.
