I have just found these hoses/pipes - albeit a little expensive (any cheaper options out there?): -

Would all of the above together act as a total aftermarket hose/pipe replacement kit? I am thinking that I would need some bulk silicone vacuum hose/pipe as well - what diameter vacuum hose is present on the VRS AUQ engine? Is it all 4mm OD? Or various?

Found these as well: -

The bottom four product lines.

Try viper performance apparently they do more hoses than they list My link

Ive bought creation motorsports top breather and TIP.

Fitted the breather yesterday and it was a good fit, seems just as good quality as samco/forge aswell, much cheaper though.

Just to conclude this thread guys. I took the car to Ben at Shark Performance today. I won't go into too much detail on a public forum, however, all of these issues were down to a mapping issue - as simple as that. No boost leaks, no vacuum leaks, no breather leaks, etc. I have come away with one of Shark Performance's re-maps and I am more than impressed to say the least. No boost surging anymore, no sluggish take offs, alot quicker yet more progressive, holds onto boost much better and longer and MUCH MUCH MUCH better in terms of fuel consumption and MPG. If you want to know the details reating to the mapping issue, feel free to PM me privately. I am just very glad that I chose and took this route first before spending a small fortune on replacing non-faulty parts with new underneath the bonnet in an attempt to fault find.

Thanks guys - for all of your help - one happy Octy VRS owner here!

Thank you for the quick and good replies guys. Good stuff! Some really useful/helpful pointers and feedback there.

I am seriously starting to think that it either a remap issue or a leaking boost or vaccum pipe/hose somewhere on the engine. I have booked the car in next Thursday with Ben at Shark Performance, he was very helpful over the phone, seems like a nice guy. He even offered to diagnose the problem and look at the current map FOC, which is great. I have just had four new tyres fitted and the brakes (discs, pads and handbrake) were all done just before I bought the car, so no problems with those areas either. I did quite a bit of city driving this afternoon and I averaged 20MPG! More free flowing A-road driving is seeing an average of around 26MPG. Any sort of revs or use of the turbocharger boost really sees the MPG drop dramatically. So something is definitely amiss.

I am going to take a look at all of the boost and vacuum pipes/hoses tomorrow morning, looking for any loose ones, split ones, cracked ones, etc. Is there a diagram or an engine bay photograph that highlights the areas of all of these pipes/hoses I need to check somewhere on the internet?

Also... off topic, but take a look at the youtube link below, this is the weekend beast, that ironically returns a better MPG than what the VRS is returning at the moment! :giggle:

Make sure you have your volume turned up! I would be happy to get 35MPG average from the VRS, any more is a bonus.

The Monaro looks very similar to one featured in either Redline or Total Vauxhall a couple of months back. I likeemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Well, it appears I am in the same boat as you. Bought a Mk1 '03 VrS and found the consumption a bit too high. I am in Basingstoke so if any of you more experienced VrS owners know of someone in my area that can do the business I would be much appreciative.

Well spotted mate. It was my Monaro I think you saw in a magazine - not a similar one. My Monaro was featured in Redline magazine November 2010 issue. Chances are that you saw it in that issue. I was quite happy with the feature they did of it too, they did a good job.

What? How does everyone have such better MPG than me lol.

I had 28 as an average, soon as I fixed the Breather it went up to 31.6. I guess monday I will be getting under the bonnet!

Doesn't sound like a million miles away from my car tbh. It is worth noting whether people are talking actual or trip computer figures.

Take my last tank on here - http://www.fuelly.com/driver/lordrobs/octavia

Average of 33.3. That was 40 odd miles of mixed driving and a 296 mile round trip to Nottingham which was quoted on the trip comp as 38mpg on the way there and 37.something on the way back... how that equates to an average of 33mpg I don't know.

What I do find is that on regular driving the trip computer is fairly accurate but the high readings it gives on a long run are a tad unrealistic.

Just managed 600km on a tank - averaged 34mpg

Just gone through my first full tank of fuel.

Brim to brim using 95RON fuel - 323.3 miles to 51.00 litres of fuel - which calculates out at 28.82 MPG.

At 124.9 pence per litre.

That was very mixed driving. A little bit of everything - Urban, B-Road, A-Road, Motorway and with some "spirited" driving. Not as good as I would have liked it to be, but a little better now than before the Shark Performance re-map. I would like to see 30MPG+ at least. So this still seems quite low though, just filled up with 95RON again (97RON was out of stock), would like to try a full tank of 97RON fuel to see if that affects the overall MPG figures.

mine does seem to go further on a tank of super.. what did your trip say the mpg was compared to the actual?
