Mk1 vrs boot lock issue....

Featured Replies

Easy guys guess its a stupid one but thought i'd ask , my boot locks and unlocks on remote but if i try use the key in the boot it won't turn at all?? And i wanted to de lock the drivers door which i don't think is a great idea if i cannot unlock boot....

I don't know why people de-lock the drivers door, I find it really handy bein able to open and close the windows off of the key. I don't think I've ever put my key in the boot to try.

The lock fills up with dirt and grim. I spray mine with some wd-40 now and then, and give the key a gentle wiggle to help free it up. I have also found the same issue occurs with the drivers door lock as well :S

If yours is jammed solid then I guess it will take a bit more wiggling to get it to move. Be gentle and it will eventually start to move.

I have an alientech (http://www.alientech.net/) controller fitted so I don't need to use the lock in the drivers door for window control.

You could try some plusgas style stuff. I think you need lots of gentle wiggling if it is really stuck fast. If possible open the boot so the lock is parallel to the ground so it does not run out straight away. Also spray around the side of of the lock and not just into the key-flap/hole.

Sweet plusgas it is tomorrow and every night for a few days

And once free, make you you exercise the lock with the key every month or so to make sure it does not get jammed up again

You need to get behind the lock in the boot to wd40 the pins and mechanism.

I did the solenoid also and the boot is very smooth opening now. (open it and re greased it)

Also if you get the 3 button remote and program that, you can open close boot independently.

If you update your ECU / remote key you can open close windows on the remote. I like this mod....

Sorry, I'm hi-jacking this thread!

I managed yesterday to get my key into my lock (took quite a bit of time!) but it still wasn't turning the lock. I compared the position of the key in the lock with that of the drivers door, and the key is going in the correct distance.

I then removed the whole mechanism from the boot lid, with the expectation that I could remove the lock barrel, and service it separately.. but the lock barrel would not shift out of the plastic housing! (I did remove the retaining spring and clip emoticon-0112-wondering.gif)

Any suggestions? And what is Plusgas, is it basically the same as WD, or something else? Cheers, Andrew..
