Bluetooth phone compatability

Featured Replies

A bit of advice please folks.

I need a new mobile but don't know which ones will be compatible with my SM Hetti. At present I've got a 3 yr old Sony Ericsson W910 which works fine. 12 months ago I got a fancy new Nokia (can't remember the model; it had a slide out keyboard) but Hetti didn't like it (it kept on disconnecting) so I went back to the Sony and gave the Nokia to my son for his birthday!.

So, needing to upgrade, where can I find an up to date list of compatible phones?? I don't want anything really fancy but need email and web access on it.

Looking forward to a lot of conflicting opinions !!! :smirk:

I'm surprised the Nokia had issues as I thought Nokia make the Bluetooth box for VW anyway. All depends on price, I personally would choose an iPhone or HTC Desire but they're a bit more expensive than perhaps you wanted to spend.

Bit cheaper could be a HTC Wildfire or Samsung Tocco Lite.

iPhone works a treat.

I second that...........................I didn't choose the moniker 'Macdemon' for nothing you know emoticon-0105-wink.gifemoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

and another for the iPhone. The only real negative is the battery life, though plugging it in in the car overcomes that.

My iPhone 4 manages to last a day normally without charging during the day. Unless I use the TomTom app.

I there what have you to do to your iphone 4

HTC desire works very well with the Skoda Bluetooth system.

If you have BT preparation (standard on elegance spec or ordered with it as an option) then go into the BT settings on the iPhone and pair the phone with the Skoda car kit.

simple.

You can do it through the maxidot, but the phone is easier.

did the Yeti not come (at one point) with an rSAP only based car kit (like the Superb i drive?) If it did, the the iPhone wont connect. - Maybe that's with Inny was meaning?

(2008-2010 Superb's came with rSAP (Where the car becomes the phone) hands free. a great system, but limited phones would work - mainly Nokia's) MY 11 changed to a rSAP and HFP based system

It's a vote for the iPhone here, UNLESS you are going to use it for business; it's useless at push email etc with corporate accounts unless you have MS Exchange server installed... if you are using a phone for business, and not pleasure, i would suggest the BlackBerry Torch (9800) - i had an iPhone 3gs, but it just couldn't keep up with my business needs. (lost calls, poor battery life, system crash's etc)

AS far as I'm aware the SM only ever came with GSM11, whereas all the other Skoda's come with GSM111 (rasp version).

I use my iPhone 4 for business email using my own domain and have no problems whatsoever. It's the best iPhone so far. Battery life is fine (yes the 3GS would die in under a day). Not had any system crashes. Occasionally lose a call, but no more than I did when I used a blackberry.

Can someone please tell me if my iphone 3G bluetooth will be compatible with my forthcoming Yet 170 elegance ?? It wasn't with my 10 plate Octavia L&K whereas my simple Nokia 2730 paired up via its bluetooth with that car without any effort on my part. Doesn't really matter because I don't use the iphone as a phone - using the simple Nokia because of it's good battery life and smaller in the pocket. My iphone is only used for the apps available and for internet access.

Sorry if I seem thick but via bluetooth will I be able to play music from my i-pod touch 4g on the Bolero?

Not if you have a mobile connected. You can only have one device connected at a time.

Thanks Mike.

Only just getting used to the I pod which is great with my Roberts DAB setup. At the moment I use my Garmin nuvi as my hands free and also find my little Nokia 2630 just the job as we say in Yorkshire (only £30)! Still it won`t be an issue in a Yeti until around Christmas!

Cheers

Peter
