VW-Audi subsidising SEAT Exeo diesel sales

Featured Replies

I went and looked at an Exeo when I was replacing my Toledo. I loved my mk2 Tolly and it was an awesome car. However, I didn't feel that the Exeo brought anything over the Octy. I did love the interior until I sat in the back and couldn't get in properly with my work boots on! There was about the same amount of rear legroom as my Toledo which wasn't much!

Shame as I liked the exterior with Xenon lights and wanted to support Seat after my experience with my Toledo. I did quickly discount the Leon and Altea due to the egg crate interiors!

These figures are Seats profit figures in millions of euros, the figures for 2010 are not available but 2009 saw a massive loss despite scrappage schemes across the whole of europe.

2005 -62.513

2006 -49.088

2007 +169.703

2008 +44.400

2009 -186.500

Just so happened that in 2009 Spain's economy and SEAT's biggest market fell through it's behind.

i think that car is a steal for a used car!! not a new purchase but a vag saloon 2009 15k miles with a tdi 140 for £11k!!! bargin in my eyes

Its a bargain because nobody wants one.

B7 A4 made ugly.

i dont think it looks bad and anyone wanting a decent run about for little money would do worse, 2009 car for 11-12k

I like it but the only problem I've got is it is an old model, and just reminds me the old daewoo that was a mk2 astra.

I've tried seats, driven a mk3 for abit and brother owns a mk2, they just dont do it for me sorry to say, I found the mk3 cramped compared to the fabia.

very true but for the money i fail to believe you will get much better a car, the B6/7 was still a decent car but hey each to their own. afterall skodas do beat anything

Right, test drove a 59 plate 2.0 CR tdi "S", which is the base model. 143bhp with only 3,000 miles on it, basically pre-registered as a demo car by the dealer. Much more civilised than a MKI Fabia VRS.

I have to say I thought it was very good and made an offer on it, am waiting to hear back from the dealer today. The only thing I will struggle with is coz it's the base model it doesn't have leather steering wheel. Can't remember last time I owned a car without a leather pack.

I think that the Exeo represents cracking VFM and hopefully these discounted new cars will hit the second hand market even harder.

I'd have one as a replacement for my Octavia as I'm looking to go diesel next time with a bit more refinement but I'm not fussed at all on the brand or even the fact that it is an old model (as long as it is still a decent car overall).

I must admit I was quite impressed with the Chevy Cruze when I had a sit in one at the BTCC this year (a road one, not Plato's  ). As long as it didn't drive like junk then they would be high up on my list too.

I would seriously consider one of these if I needed to replace my car.

Could always ask the dealer to change it to a leather wheel as part of the deal if they won't move on price.

Bought it, just paid a deposit.

Got a good p/x price for my 06 plate, 54,000 mile Fabia VRS, a leather steering wheel and a service thrown in. I feel like that's a good deal for a car like this.

Nice one. Get some pics up when it arrives.

I'd certainly look at one of these. I've been thinking about a larger car for a while and numerous impending DIY projects may force my hand.

From what I can see looking at the ST and comparing it to the Octy vRS estate the price is definitely favourable. It looks like the load space is slightly less, but there are more toys as standard.

Would I rather an estate based upon the previous generation Audi A4, or the previous generation VW Golf?

For those complaining about the rear leg room.

FYI

The facelift exeo has had it increased by reworking the rear seats and the back of the front seats.
