New car time finally

Featured Replies

I put a poll up a while back about opinions on a few cars and now have funds to buy, buy, BUY :D

I've decided between a new Leon cupra R or an Audi S3.

My first choice is the S3, full spec, 59 plate with 10k miles or a full spec cupra r, 60 plate with only 800 miles which is about 3k cheaper than the S3 !

The Leon is basically the same spec as the S3 but just doesn't feel as well built ?

Opinions welcome :)

Leon's 3k cheaper for a reason, in my book. It lacks 4WD and as you say, lacks the built quality of the Audi.

If those are the two choices, then I'd go S3 personally. But then seek to find one with perhaps a few less miles and perhaps on a 10-plate instead.

If Skoda aren't going to compete with a 265bhp, k04 turbo'd, s3 intercooled octy Vrs "Green Edition" estate...

Then it'd be an S3 for me too

No brainer - S3 ;)

The Audi will make up for the extra price when you come to sell it.

S3

not even a choice in my opinion S3 is the only car to buy from those two

S3 has always been my first choice, only thought about the cupra R because it has the same engine just not 4 wheel drive.

So sod the extra few k ! S3 it is :D

Lucky git :)

Good thinking; I like your logic and wouldn't say that 4WD is strictly necessary. Depends what you're doing and where you're using it of course. And it does rob the S3 of a bit of driver dynamics I'd argue, against the Mk5 GTi for example.

But as an all-round package it does have a lot going for it. Any links to prospective vehicles you're considering? :)

4 wheel drive isn't something I'm really fussed over but even better that the S3 has it :)

Another factor was the resale value in say a couple of years, although the Leon is cheaper now it could loose alot more value over time where as S3's seem to hold value really well.

I'll find links to a couple of S3's I've been looking at

It'll certainly make 265bhp quite usable, if nothing else! :D

Yep, it's the right 2nd hand choice, even if it's more expensive like-for-like. That should balance out or even tip in your favour, depending on how long you intend to keep it for, and the mileage you'll do.

the audi S3 is a great car

once you've driven quattro theres no turning back

you will grin every time you drive it,be ultra safe on any corners in the wet, roundabouts are a giggle and you will laugh at everybody when it snows

good choice man

Thanks for the advice Wardy, much appreciated :)

well having come from th modified octy vrs side as stated above once you go quattro you wont go back!! admitidly i went for the non haldex but not much of a difference.

the difference in traction pulling out of junctions and in poor weather is frightening. 4wd is now the 1st box i tick when choosing a car, limits me somewhat but i want a car for allweathers and mine does that with ease.

That's a lovely one you've linked to emoticon-0103-cool.gif

You don't want a yellow one anyway! Oh, and those seats....

Think Dolphin would be my ideal colour choice, but then again it's your choice not mine ;)

I was originally looking for an orange one that was high spec, buckets, bose, sat nav etc but it was like a needle in a haystack and after seeing one in the flesh it put me right off !

The yellow one was the same spec as the black one but was a little more expensive, had more miles and was on a 09 plate.

I just need to finalise a few things with the seller of the black one then its all mine :D

Think Dolphin would be my ideal colour choice, but then again it's your choice not mine ;)

Is that the grey? Looks stunning in that colour. S3 all day, as everyone else has said. Not got much to add tbh, amazing car, would very much like one as my next motor :giggle: Maybe one day

Yeah it's grey (dolphin grey)

S3 looks great in all colours tbh but if I was to order one brand new I'd have it in sepang blue

Golf R32 :D? Would be an epic noise and 4wd :).

Yeah, sorry - abbreviated a bit too much! Dolphin Grey, or I'm right with you with that Sepang Blue choice. Always like how Audis look in that sort of shade of blue...

Looks very similar to the blue they offer the Scirocco in.

There was a sepang blue one for sale last year but was just a bit over budget for me even though it was totally gorgeous B)

I'm not really a fan of grey cars but it looks quite nice on the S3 :)

Don't see many Sepangs about, I'll give you that! Amusing that you went after an orange one too :D

I agree, it has to be the right shade of grey. And Dolphin seems to be just the right combo and shows off the shape well I think.

I take it you've already ruled out new Golf R?

Sits directly between S3 and the seat on price, your needs etc.

Looks like graphite grey and race blue to me.

I remember when the A3 was launched. Sat in one at the motorshow at the NEC only because I couldn't get near the Golf GTi that was on the opposite stand and I've always thought that I'd sat in the right car from that day on. Good choice. The Leon's feel cheap and tacky and I nearly wet myself today when I went past a Seat dealer in Lancaster who's got some very very new ones on the forecourt....thought he's having a right old laugh asking that much. No wonder Skoda is outselling them.
