Post your trip 2 figures!

Featured Replies

Since the battery was last disconnected I've done 1631 miles @ 38 mph achieving an indicated 52.5 mpg. Actual mpg (calculated by my Mileage app on my phone) since the new Turbo went on is 50.7 mpg.

47.2 mpg @roughly 3000 mile with ave. speed of 38

I really don't think this shows much other than what type of driving you do.

Mines 35.5mpg // 24mph // 700 miles

Short trip to work means my mph is low.

Not really, mine has a 41mpg and a 31mph average and I prefer to take it easy with the odd blast in 2nd on country lanes

I think it shows that the new car extra-urban figures calculated at around 40mph avg. are actually spot on. It also reflects the congestion on the roads, and makes you question for a second why we are driving hot hatches capable of 130mph! Only for a second though. ;)

Serious question, what is 2nd gear in a desil Fabia (vRS & TDi)? Speed wise that is. I always assumed it would be quite low, what with the short rev ranges.

Yeah, but then the worries all go away when flooring it (on open roads) up to 7k rpm. . .oh, wait! :p

I have never reset trip 2 on our cars. I have just been out and looked at the trip on them.

My 2004 vRS

29 mph - 1339 miles - 47.5 mpg

Mother's 2003 1.9TDI

28 mph - 669 miles - 51 mpg

I may post later what my dad once got in one journey with her car.

The best Trip 1, we got is this. It was taken 12 April 2010 with my dad driving my mums car.

25 mph, 8 miles and

imag0187r.jpg

He said if he hadn't stopped at 3 sets of traffic lights it would have been at least 95 average. Also it was done from a cold engine, the outside temp was 9°C.

Cant remember if it was 84.9 or 94.9 mpg average on the trip over a journey of about 60 miles.. Had loads of time to spare so thought i would drive like a granny to see how good a mpg i could get, barely went over 50mph and hit the breaks twice (only lightly)

1st - 30mph

2nd - ~50mph

3rd - ~75mph

4th - ~100mph

5th - ~130mph* (based on 100mph @ 3,000rpm and 80mph @ 2500rpm)

All indicated in a PD100

Cheers. :) Thought 1st and 2nd would be about 10mph less than those figures.

I believe the vRS figures will be a tad less (probably about 10%) in those gears and 6th will give it the higher indicated speed

i reset mine on every fill up, its says 47.2mpg/29mph and thats over 450miles

Got this on Friday

i was papping em coz i didn't want to run out of diesel, so it was a steady drive from sheffield to Dewsbury around 40 mile trip.

it was a very boring trip, lets just say i didn't overtake anything and everything was overtaking me :giggle:

it was 93 mpg just before i got off the motorway too but by the time i got home it had dropped to 91 mpg.

still managed 47 mpg over the whole tank and that included a RR day and a brisk drive from dewsbury to sheffield to get our lass to work on time not much overtook me then haha.

Thanks Ryan.

51.5 mpg, 28 mph avg, 1412 miles.

My Trip 2 seems the opposite way to you guys, yours are all wildly optimistic, mine is a pessimist! My weekly trip is always no less than 450 miles, and my trip 2 never reads above 42 mpg, yet calculated is always 52-54mpg. These figures are over 15 weeks of the routine (fuel up on Sunday, Mon-Fri work then light use on a Saturday).

Mine is good, for the last 27000 miles is within 2 miles short. (showing less than pen and paper calculation) So now when I know the error margin I am ok.

34.5mpg 27mph o_O

I too reset "2" at each top-up.

Here's a target for you - recorded after a 91 mile journey from Gloucestershire to Shropshire

speedoafter91milescrosscountry.jpg?t=1282292588

This is in the old reasonably accurate 2004vRS not the totally inaccurate 2007vRS when I often get such figures...

How do you get to your Trip 2? As I have the average - But resets if leave car off for so long? And the average your actually doing currently whilst moving.

Over 680 miles, town driving.

I reckon my trip is about 20 mpg happy it says 71.9 and I've been getting between 52- 58mpg recently

It should be going up though as I'm doing more motorway driving.

I've done well this time got just over 500 miles to a tank that's without using expansion. I'll have to wait what fuelly says.

Did a 45 mile journey and averaged 21 mph! Stupid road works on m62 journey should of took an hour it took three.

2482 miles, 59.2 mpg @ average speed of 36mph

that said my usual journey is up the A3 to Roehampton so i spend a fair bit of time sat at 50mph
