How big 0r small ?

Recommended Posts

I had a discussion with a 'knowledgable' :wonder: friend who suggested that my new Ocy was based on a golf.

I suggested it was based on the Passat :smirk: :smirk:

Can someone please put us out of our misery

As above, the MK2 Octavia is based on the VW Golf MK5 platform, but iirc the Octy is between 50-100kg heavy but much more spacious, especially in the boot.

So when you shut the door and say "it sounds like a Golf" technically your right! :giggle:

Technically its not the 'Golf' platform anymore, its the PQ35 Platform, as so many cars now use it.

Seems to be happening alot in the motoring world, that there is only a few platforms which cars are based on. GM started it in the early 1990s with the Cavalier.

The Superb isn't technically a Passat chassis either as it is longer than the Passat!

People always say to me about the Octy, "its based on an A4 isn't it....er no its based on a Golf/A3! How is that because its so much bigger?" :dull: Oh dear!!

Surprisingly, the current Mk6 GTI TSI is 1393Kg. The Octy2 vRS TSI is 1360Kg :)

According to Carpages data....

Mk2 is an Octavia Hybrid:

An all new Å koda Superb (B6, Typ 3T) was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in early March 2008.[6]

Based on a stretched version of the latest A5 Octavia platform, the Volkswagen Group A5 PQ35, this new Superb is a five-door five-seat liftback saloon/sedan,
