Very impressive mpg. I must admit when I first looked at the Fabia GL2 I didn't expect to actually achieve the book figures, but I thought if I can at least get close it would be more than double what my last car did so who cares. It's very encouraging to hear these figures! Glad you're enjoying to car so much too!

I'm also impressed with the MPG for such little miles on it. It feels completley different from 2000 miles ago, thats for sure.

I had the same view, I was very unsure it would actually get near to that, but glad it has. No doubt it won't be constantly that high, but still statisfying.

It's a nice car. Very happy with it for the money.

Hehe, if only that did 85mpg and i'd have it.

Just a couple of little niggles.

My hill hold control doesnt seem to work, any ideas, does it need activating or am I missing a trick when using it?

Also my DPF regen always seems to start when i'm at the end of a journey, i know it doesnt really matter and nothing I can really do. but it's annoying. :p

How often does your DPF regenerate?

I've done 7000 miles in my GL2 now and I've never seen it work.

I'm not even sure. I've heard it happen 3 times now. I think? (This is the increase of engine temperature and noise coming from the engine, each time it's stopped a few minutes are i've turned the engine off. (Twice after a 40mile journey on motorway.)

I've noticed there is a light on my dash, that looks like that, but it never comes on. Guess it's a warning light rather then, this is happening light.

Anyway, my car's heading towards 3,000 miles now.

Yes it is a warning light.

Maybe as I drive at 60mph for 30 minutes twice a day it's all happening without me knowing. :)

Picking it up today, apparantly it's ready.

12 Weeks now in total, from order to ready.

Could have been earlier, owell skoda!

Thats not bad we waited 15-16 weeks for our vRS estate

See, that's the strange thing, since i've got it I've been doing a 40mile each way commute nearly every day, (about 45 mins each way) and everytime i've heard it regening, it's been just as I've got onto the exit slip road. On top of that, every journey I do is atleast 12miles, around 20mins of driving.

Yeh, I guess in the great scheme of things it wasn't bad really.

6 weeks on and still no build week :|

How are all the GL2ers doing economy-wise? Anyone hit the magical 90+mpg on the motorway yet?

Indicated... yes.

But in reality or over a tank... No.

I averaged 93.1mpg on my 42 mile trip into work once. But I guesstimate that was in reality mid 80's as the mpg calculator is a bit optimistic.

Can someone confirm what DGS regen is and how it manifests itself? On about 4 or 5 occasions, before my vehicle had done 4000 miles, I would stop at the end of a journey and it sounded like the engine fan was runnning with the engine off, I thought it was odd, I almost took it back to the dealer at one point as I thought there was a fault, but it hasn't done it now in the last 5000 miles and I'm approaching 9000 miles now. Was that the regen working, what does it do?

A DPF regen is when the car burns off the soot produced by burning diesel. The soot particles are caught in the DPF and when it gets to a certain level the engine introduces extra diesel onto the DPF to raise the temp in the DPF to 600+ deg, the soot is then burnt off to very small bits. If the regen is at the end of a run the fan stays on to cool the engine.

Regarding MPG, best i've seen indicated over a run is 90mpg ish, on a commute home from work and best over a tank, think was around 83mpg.

Strangely enough, my best indicated MPG seems either to be sitting in 5th gear at 40mph (note no labour and on flat roads) or around 35mph in 4th, it seems to constantly indicate 110mpg + at these speeds.

Nice to know, thanks. That's hot. :)

Another fill up done.

660miles done this time, filled up with about 42litres, about 72mpg then I think.

Not bad, have had some spirited driving and what not tho. :)

Thanks for the explanation, that saves me a trip to the dealers asking stoopid questions :giggle:

It's also exactly what happened this morning, at the end of my 70 mile commute are some lights I get caught at for a couple of minutes, the start/stop was inactive and the fan was blowing overtime with the car idling at 1100rpm, this continued for around 5 more minutes whilst I got into work. It continued whilst I parked up, shut the engine down and walked away, the fan was still going, the car is on 8,900 miles!!

The first couple of times it did this I was worried there was a fault, my mind is now at ease

Mine does that too, exactly the same, come off the motorway and theres a few lights before I get to work. Worried me first time, sounded like it was going to go boom.

I went for red which seems to be quite a popular colour for the greenline! Thought the extra £400+ was just a bit too steep!

re-reading this whole thread has kinda made me want a Greenline again... i was soooo close to ordering one, even put down a deposit too.. but due to an error on their part they offered me a full refund on my deposit and i walked away from the deal :-(

oh well, i will find something eventually that i am happy to stick with. i quite like the remapped 220bhp BMW 320D coupe my mate has that i averaged 62mpg in over a 300 mile weekend.

When I picked mine up, there was actually a red one at the dealer for a fleet car. Looked ok.

I went for the metallic black, just as it seems to wear better with the miles i do and with the VAT off, it wasn't really that much more. Plus they gave me a couple of free extras if I bought the metallic.

I think they are practically the best you can get, this type of car, for the money. Imo.

Strange you say that, I actually looked at the 320d coupe, I had a real desire for one. But I decided that the overall saving of having the GL2, compared to my old car and a 320d couple, the GL2 basicly pays for itself, taking all things into account. Espically as my insurance on a 320d would have been £600 more a year. Eek. Maybe in 4 years.

I'm about £6000+ a year better off driving the Greenline II instead of my old car once you factor in fuel, running costs and depreciation. I had a 2 year old Rangie which seems silly for just driving to work and back.

And yes, £400 on a cheap car for a change of colour seemed steep. So I went for white.

Plus it was actually supposed to be for the business fleet, but I liked it so much (once I got shot of the cheap plastic steering wheel) that I kept it for myself.

Most of our fleet is white so it had to be really...

Glad you've finally picked it up mate! Red is of course the best colour too ;) enjoy...
