Ordered a Greenline 2, what's next? **Photo's added!**

Featured Replies

Hello,

I after a couple of weeks trying out new cars, etc I finnaly decided on the Greenline 2 yesterday and put a deposit down on one. This is the first new car i've bought, so I was wondering if theres anything I can expect?

I got it from Doncaster Skoda, it will be the metallic black, got free mats (:S) a free tank of petrol and the free radio leather pack. Plus the 20% VAT discount, I bought heated seats, maxi dot and a couple of other extras.

I asked for more free but they refused and it seemed inline with what other dealers were offering.

All i really know next is I will hear when build/delievery date is. I was told it will be 12-16 weeks before It will come, but reading around theres not much chance of it coming earlier. Boo

Anything I should know about?

Thanks!

It's a diesel!

Seriously, good luck with the new purchase and I hope it arrives quickly.

My GL2 took over 6 months to arrive in January with the transport delays over Christmas with all the snow. I was told 12-14 weeks.

But the other GL2's on here seemed to come more quicly than mine.

Good choice of extras too.

Welcome to the Greenline 2 club

I ordered mine in July of last year and collected the car in at the beginning of October about 12 weeks to be delivered. I had to order mine a bit on faith as Skoda were only taking preproduction orders for the UK and test drove the 1.2htp.

The big question is what car are you driving now and did you get to test drive the GL2?

NEVER ASK FOR FREE FUEL WHEN BUYING A DIESEL.

I made this mistake when I ordered a Corsa 1.3cdti. From day one there was a problem with the engine that made it hesitate and stutter badly at certain low speed revs. It would also on accasion quite dramatically and "explosively" stall - the ultimate was half way round a roundabout, the car stopped as if brakes floored and bang! £2k worth of damage from another car driving into the back of me.

I AM CONVINCED the car was misfuelled by the dealer - they send their teaboy to fuel the cars, and subsequently covered everything up. The dealer could never find any problem with car - eventually got rid - a disastrous relationship.

Thank you,

Let's hope it takes 12 weeks for me too.

I am currently driving a Fiat punto, mk2, boo, but i also have a motorbike.

No, sadly I did not drive the greenline, I drove the 1.6 105ps diesel to get an idea of the size of the car and the feel, the VRS because it looked fun and to get an idea of the engine I drove the Polo bluemotion and the Seat Ibiza 1.2 diesel, ecomotive?

So hopefully mushing all this together gave me an idea of the car, but it was abit of a leap of faith too, as no dealers I rang had one to test drive?

Urrgh, you've scared me know, i was already worrying about that, ha!. Hopefully that won't happen, might ask for £60 cash then, to do it myself!

Hopefully it should be fine, as my family haven't had problems with free tanks of fuel before.

You'll be doing well to get £60 worth of diesel in the GL2!! Wait until the summer when it's £1.50/litre then call in for the free tank of fuel

I nearly got £59 in yesterday... by driving until the range was 0 and then brimming the tank.

44.01 litres at 133.9p. Clearly I had a little range left. :D

Now that's interesting, I think my range shows zero at around 40 litres used and haven't pushed it any further, so based on your calculations there should be around 40-50 miles in the tank below zero (with my consumption average 55mpg probably more when conserving fuel, running on fumes!!) :) So can we work out usable capacity? What is maximum capacity?

im sure the fuel tank capacity is 45 litres

Def 45 litres.

Never put more than 40 in mine, do not like to pick up any crap that might be at bottom of tank.

Yup the tanks 45 + what ever you can get in the hose between the filler and the tank. :D

Has anyone had the greenline remapped? I'm wondering if it's possible to eeek a few more MPG out of it with a remap... I might just be been over optermistic?

So 44 litres usable (that we know about so far) out of a 45litre tank plus filler hose, that impressive! At least there'll be no panic to fill up when it hits zero.

I tend to run most of my vehicles low as I am not a fan of standing in cold fuel stations and the queue here is usually a few cars long.

But as they are new or fairly new I don't worry too much about tank crud.

Tank is 45 litres, plus maybe 1 or 1.5 in the filler tube once it's brimmed.

Plus another 7L+ if you vent the expansion tank!

Read about filling the vent tube as well but cannot see how to do that on my GL2 if I needed to.

When you remove the cap, a couple of inches in, is a button/lever sticking out. It seems to be designed to push down when the cap is fully screwed venting the expansion area to the top of the filler neck. I found out about by mistake when I was filling up and must have been pushing it with the nozzle and couldn't understand how I got nearly 50 litres in. As far as I'm aware they all have the same tank so it should be possible.

I am of the assumption that new cars usually come "Fuelled up" as a part of the on the road price, which covers this, road tax, number plates and first registration, along with a PDI, etc!

I have only had 2 cars from new but both had fuel in! Hning said that, the Skud was not quite full, though and I was going to complain but never bothered due to getting a great deal to start with!

Possibly I have been unlucky, but with motorbikes, apart from my bmw, from jap's i only ever got 2 litres in, brand new :'(

I got about a gallon of diesel.

I got about half a tank of diesel

Yay, Just had a phone call, build week is week 14, first week of april and they have given me a delivery date of week 18, first week of may. Not as long as I thought it would take : :D

Week 14 sounds promising: I ordered a Fabia GR2 last weekend and was given an indicative delivery time of 20 weeks, so fingers crossed it'll be quicker than that. Don't really matter if not, but I can't wait to start driving it.

On the subject of test drives, Motorline Skoda in Kent have the estate version, but I gather its pretty rare to find a demo model to drive.

Yup, well I ordered mine last weekend of feb, so if I get it first week off May that's around 10 weeks, a lot of evidence lately that cars are coming through quicker then the lead times suggest.

Good news! Fingers crossed mine hurries up :)

I get the impression that its a somewhat loose correlation between order date and delivery date, but hopefully I won't be far behind you! How long did it take to get a build week?

Even more desperate to get rid of my old car now the new one's been ordered!
