Not sure of my calculations, rough guide, saving from Previous car, monthly cost.

£11.00 Tax

£40 Insurance

Half of fuel cost. So save around £100 a month. (If not more)

£5. MOT, obviously don't have to pay do it for 3 years.

No repairs to deal with, I budgeted £20 a month for my old car, out of warrenty.

So that's a total saving of around £185 a month. I will save around £6k over 3 years. Plus I get worry free motoring and Fuel is only going to continue to rise.

I think they are practically the best you can get, this type of car, for the money. Imo.

Well the Estate is imo :giggle:

The other thing I have noticed is the car is more powerful when in a regen, hum.

JMH87 glad to hear you have your car and I hope you really like it, I thought about the red and finally decided on the white.

I think CT17 comment about keeping the car for himself rather than the company says a lot about the GL2 in general not just the mpg.

Thanks guys. Done a 100 miles and love it havent pushed it too hard put feels spirited enough for me. Just want to keep going out and driving it!

Pff, I saved a massive £500 not buying the estate, it paid for my metallic paint. Important stuff! ;) I didn't really need the extra space for the estate, anyway.

I think your right, the GL2 is a good car.

It's not a bad thing, enjoy it.

Had mine since 02/05 now and done 3,000 miles. :)

I did go for the estate, now I'm not going to say which is best as most people will prefer what they chose. I do.

But to me the combination of the five door estate body with the boot space, fuel economy and standard features on a cheap car just made it a clean winner over anything else.

7,200 miles in now and I still really like it.

Although I do play with my mkI VRS sometimes to get an acceleration buzz. :D

I think your right, people choose to suit there needs.

Mine was purely for the fuel economy, saving and the fact that the bluemotion polo hardly fitted me in it. :(

I have my motorbike to play on, as you say, for abit of a buzz when needed. :)

The estate version allows a bicycle to be laid flat in the boot (seats out of course), in fact it'll take two, one on top of each other, very impressive, and it will still do 120mph/65mpg (well I might be fibbing a little on this last bit)

I agree peps choose based on their need

Although the stealers tried very hard to sell me an elegance 1.6 90bhp.

The only super fast thing I have is the kids, where do they spend that money and why do they always need clothes.

Seem to be stuck at 3,400 miles.

A few little problems:

The back end groans and squeeks, like my 10 year old punto did when the coil springs were ******, espically when going slow over rough ground or reversing onto my drive. Very annoying for a new car.

Also the dash rattle has started.

Take it back to the dealer for warrenty work? One of the problems I have with this, is I didn't really like the dealer that I bought my car from after the initial buying, (ie don't trust then!) would it be a problem to take it to a different skoda garage? (I guess the the warrenty is brand wide?)

Lastly, my circumstances have changed alittle bit and I don't seem to be using the car so much. Which is frustrating. I bought the car on finance with a 30% deposit, if it stays like this, (I have only used my car twice in the last week) any idea's what the best way to get rid if I decide too? (It's a little frustrating, I like the car, it's just not a great idea in my opinion to keep a car like that, which wont be having the runs it needs.)

Obviously I guess If I do sell, the finance outstanding needs to be cleared first, but i'd have no idea were to try and sell a car like this.

Any help would be great!

Thanks.

Not too sure about your other problem but on this one I'm pretty sure its brand wide. Initial problems are probably best dealt with by the vending dealer in case Sale of Goods legislation is relevant, but the warranty is covered by Skoda so I would assume you could take it to another dealer without a problem.

Thank you, I'll try there first and see what they can do for me.

I guess if I decide to change this greenline as it's not worth it, I could just chop it in agaisnt a VRS. Hehe, but for some reason I prefer the mk1 VRS. :(

That's why I've got the mk1 VRS and the mkII Greenline II.

Just seen your VRS thread, that does look rather nice and I do have a soft spot for blue. :)

Sounds like the the car needs checking, could they have left something on the springs?

I think if you trade in for another Skoda you can transfer the finance and top up for the new car.

Guess I should take it in then, i'll take it in on friday and see what they say. Yay for using up time that I dont have.

Guess I can also ask about the trade in or what ever too. No doubt it will be cringeworthy.

If it had been a white estate I may have been interested. :(

The places I'd try first are here on Briskoda, autotrader and ebay.

You'll probably get a few plums (on auotrader and ebay) asking silly questions, but it's worth it if you sell it.

Haha, shame. :)

I think that I'm going to see waht the next few weeks brings, I like the car and don't want to make a rush decision to get rid and regret it due to another change, lol. No rush!

Just a quick note about the selling prices for the Greenline II's

Check the prices that the Skoda dealers are offering them for, when we ordered ours, we could have bought a 6 month old GL2 with 5k miles on the clock from one of the dealers who had had it as a demo car. It would have cost £2k more than we paid, without any of the options that we had added.

They do seem to be very desirable at the moment, and the long wait times mean that the prices may well be holding up.

It's certainly worth a look.

---EDIT---

http://www.skoda.net.r66.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=601407054 - this is the cheapest dealer GL2 from the Skoda used car search...

I had alook round, a couple of dealers offered to buy it off me cash, but would have to go to them for a valuation, but dont really have the time or inclination.

Last tank full, 625 miles, took 39l to fill it. Around 73mpg I guess, which isn't bad.

At 3600miles now.

I did some calculations and compared to my old car, even with only doing around 1,000 miles a month, all I will be paying out extra is £60 a month. Which isn't bad to be able to run around in a brand new car, reliable and everything taken care of for atleast 3 years.

See were we go.

Quick update, missed a few tank fill's to the thread, but on about 4,800 miles now.

Last fill up, 720 miles in total, took 41.20Litres of fuel. (£60! :'( )

To me that's around 78MPG ish... by my maxidot was only showing around 74mpg average over tank. Any ideas?

Still enjoying the car - doubt i'm gonna sell it now. Using the bike alot more and just using this for longer trips really and get the shopping with.

Maxi-dot or other displays are often wrong. Only thing is they are usually optimistic, not pessimistic!

My car thinks it averages about 85mpg, but it does 78mpg in reality.

If you use Fuelly it's easier to keep track of.

Good mileages from you guys, what kind of speeds are you traveling at?

Seems our maxi-dot's are alittle confused. Might try using fuely again on next fill up.

It depends really, Normally stick to the speed limits and try get there as soon as possible and sit nice and high in the rev range, ie for 30's I sit in 3rd, 40's 4th and only really change upto 5th at 55, I make sure the engines never slightly labouring and MPG plumints when it does, so I sometimes change down when need acceleration.

My normal cruising speed on the motorway is either 60, 62 or 67, cruising at 70 also MPG seems to drop alot.

Good mileages from you guys, what kind of speeds are you traveling at?

Mostly 60mph.

But I have to make sure I don't let the engine revs drop under 1500 under load or economy plummets. This is the biggest thing I'd say with these cars that hurts economy.
