compatible phones for Skoda Superb Elegance

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced mobile phone that has been found to work satisfactorily in the Elegance? I would prefer a phone that I can use on a "pay as you use" basis rather than on a monthly contract

Thank you

Thank you first 8 replies. I should have said that I shall be picking up my NEW Elegance in a day or two. Sorry!

As far as I am aware all Nokia phones, will work with no problems, ( but i could be wrong), however any that I have tried have all been ok.

Hi the system is desgined around the European standard connections, so if you were to pick a Nokia your wont go far wrong. If had a Nokia 6310 and currently a E71 all worked with no problems

Hi John,

What year is your Superb? If it's a 2010, you are restricted to a handful of phones. - Altho, if you see This Thread this can all be sorted.

If it's a 2011 car, then you can use almost any Bluetooth Phone.

Some old, and Some new wont work, but it all depends on the car's system

Well, not really, again depends on the system.

if it's rSAP only (2010 car) it's a Nokia Protocol. - but some new Nokia's dont have it! - Same with some old Nokia's too!

I guess that rather depends on the age of the Elegance in question. Any car built from the week commencing 22nd June 2010 onwards will have the new bluetooth module that supports both rSAP and HFP (hands free protocol). If your car falls into this category, then I would suggest that you try the Orange San Francisco. It costs around £80 on PAYG (plus £10 mandatory topup), and is a fantastic Android handset. You get all the bells and whistles, including an 800x480 screen, Wifi, GPS etc. Best of all, you can unlock it for free, and install one of a number of custom Android 2.2 builds on it. For more information, go to http://blade.modaco.com

If your car has the old bluetooth module, then you will be limited to handsets that support rSAP, which basically means Nokia. There are other brands that support rSAP, but Nokia's implementation is the most stable. If are after a cheap handset, and don't care too much about buying second hand, then the Nokia E71 would be a good choice. It's well built, reliable, and works perfectly in the Superb. If you fancy a touchscreen handset, then the Nokia N95 Mini is going reasonably cheaply now, and can be got on eBay (unlocked) for around £120-£150. Beyond that, then you are looking at paying 'real' money for a handset. The N8 is nice, and works, but is pretty damned expensive.

If you don't fancy Nokia, then a number of Blackberries support rSAP, as does WM6.5. However, the WM6.5 rSAP support is flaky at best.

One final possibility is the Samsung Galaxy S. This is currently the only Android handset that supports rSAP. It does have one limitation, which is that it will only sync SIM card contacts across to the kit in the Superb. Not a lot of use if you've got your contacts in phone memory.

Hope that helps,

Bagpuss.

My car with 2010 rSAP works absolutely fine with B/berry Torch and Nokia N5

Used Nokia 6301 and 6700 both connected no problem

My Nokia E72 paired brilliantly. I've got a BlackBerry Torch now, so you could always make me an offer for my E72 (immaculate, screen always protected, leather flip case, etc.) which is currently on Vodafone but unlocking not a problem. :)

I have a Nokia N73 and a Nokia 6220 Classic both fully paired to my 2010 Combi.

The 6220 Classic is a great phone, light and slim with gps and internet.

the system only shows a txt if you receive it, when connected to the car. It'll display it on the MaxiDot. you cant scroll through previous txt's.

on 2011 cars, you can also write txt's on the Columbus.
