Anyone else had mould problems?

Featured Replies

Since my car has been in storage all of my vrs seats have gone a little mouldy - as has the carpets in the back. I've stripped everything out of it and got the door carriers sealed also removed the seats carpets trim etc to clean it.

What has everyone else used before??

Not in the Fabia, but currently got the same problem with a 206 I'm breaking.

Mouldy seats, seatbelts & carpet

The car is a mess in general, but I need to sell the seats once I've bought a new set of torx bits.

Keeping an eye on this thread on what product to use.

Most of the products specifically for mould contain bleach, and having splashed tiny amounts on my clothes in the past I know there's enough there to turn your seats etc a different colour. I'd probably try hiring one of those rug cleaners from Morrisons/B&Q etc that have been mentioned a few times on here.

Seconded, I borrow my Mum's Vax carpet cleaner with 'tool', for my car's annual seat cleaning mission! Did it this week, and they come up really well every time.

I use normal carpet shampoo, hot water, and a hell of a lot of elbow grease! Although I have previously replaced the carpet shampoo for autoglym seat cleaner stuff, but it's 3 times the price, and comes up the same.

Used this technique on many, many car seats over the years, but none have ever needed it as often as the Fabia - damn these white seats!

I've been told to use white vinager and water mixed 50% to kill the mould & then use the Armour all interior foam to clean the seats once the water mix has dried. Will give it a try on a small section first to make sure the vinagar doesnt cause and damage to the material

Or maybe I should just spend my bonus on a seat surgeons retrim! :)

Try hoovering it and it will mostly disappear and once the seats are being used again it won.t come back.

My brother had the same problem last year with his car when it was off the road for winter, he gave the seats a good hoovering and when the car was being used again the mould didn't come back.

Got mould on the rear door cards. Have tried mould killer spray, brushing, vinegar and hoovering. None of these worked for long, the mould just came straight back. Might try the steam cleaner idea - never thought of that.
