Furby VRS SE purchase?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys :hi: , after joining this forum a few weeks ago, looking for some help and advice in looking into buying a furby VRS and selling my 407 Coupe HDI 2.7 to do so. You will all be pleased to know that I am going to look at a SE tomorrow  . It is in a Skoda dealer and I am hoping due to it being a 6hr round trip that the car is as good as the Saleman has told us.

I am sure you chaps have been asked alot about things to look out for on a test drive and looking around the car, but could you please point me in the right direct. As I don't want to buy a furby with a problem, when the garage is so far away, unless it is spot on.

Also what would you say is a fair price for an SE in todays market?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Unsure on a price

Look for leaking rear doors if it's got the fault it might have a puddle when you open the door in the sill.

Listen for knocks on your test drive

What mileage does it have?

What dealer - we can have a butchers :)

usual FSH,

cambelt @ 60k miles / 4 years( this can be expensive)

no blue smoke on startup from cold

plus whatever else you can find searching here.

Why the move from the Peugeot? I think the 407 coupe is a lovely looking car (other than a slightly long nose!)... don't they have about 330lb/ft torque standard??

Good look with the SE search, thats a fair old way to travel so lets hope its as good as they say :)

Got to agree with that. Stunner imo, but there again, he is considering a move to a vastly more reliable car, and also another stunner too imo. :)

If its se no 483 avoid it like the plauge!!!!!

Thats my old one and it had a very hard first 2 1/2 years

It did lots of trackwork and was starting to fall apart when i got rid a couple of years ago, i think it did more track miles than road miles!!!!!

Lol frig sake lol lets hope its not yours lol

There are quite a few on eBay... one for £6999 but seems a bit used (can see more creases in the leather).

They seem to be going for about 7k to 8k.

About a month ago I paid £8k for mine with 20,000 miles on the clock. I bought it on BriSkoda!

Some dealers are in dreamland and asking for more than 8k, even though they have 40k+ miles on them. Too expensive IMO.

Are you just looking for SE's?

Rainworth Skoda main dealer.

To answer some of the other questions. I am not sure if this is the correct way to do it. But thought it was better than replying to them all.

The reason for me getting rid of the 407 is that it is not that practical, due to the size and also the 34 miles to a gallon!!! You are right the torque and it is one nice looking motor, which has been the best car I have owned!! I will be gutted for it to go!! I have only done 6k in a year due to the fact that my wifes car is just easier to drive in and around town and parking. With the doors so big and heavy if people park close to you it can be a no go on getting in!!!.

Not just looking for a SE, but I like the idea of the leather seats and the age is about right with the trade in of my 06 Coupe.

Thanks for the advice on the number. If it is that one I will watch away after your tip off. Thanks for that.

We have an early start in the morning, I hope it is going to be a good day tomorrow and the deal and car are to my liking.

Cheers Guys

Good luck mate, just remember that...

A - Even if it is a good price, its a lot of money for something you are not entirely happy with

B - A fool and their money are easily parted

Two buying tips from my grandad! also its worth remembering that some of the 06 and 07 fabs have leather too!

Good luck mate!

just something that might ease your worry if it is from a skoda dealer it will come with some warranty which you can use at any skoda dealer

wow - still almost £9k for one, holding value well!

10 points and a gold star to that man. I put down the deposit and I hope to pick it up soon.

Excellent  Nice to know it's gone from one Briskoda member to another... even via a dealer! It sounds like a well looked after car, so should serve you well :) Did you manage to get them down any on that price if you don't mind me asking?

Sadly not!!!! It was not up for negotiation :wall: After much trying!!!But I did get a few bits and bobs and my tax back :whew: off my coupe which is around £200.

Just hope they sort a few bits out before I pick up, but the car was in good condition. Can't wait for the 109 miles home it in now!!!

Thanks, just let me know where to pick them up  . Glad you've done the deal, welcome to the club. Had my SE for almost two years and not regretted it for a second.
