Wheeling 'n Dealing

Featured Replies

Just had a chat with Jabba about a CAT back exhaust.

Well the bottom line is that I can either have it fitted free or get 10% discount. Now you may wonder why either well if if it takes 1hour to fit it's cheaper to have it fitted free or if it take 30mins then it's cheaper with the 10% discount.

Either way I can't loose; I'll get whatevers the best deal on the day!

The cost of the exhaust is

sounds ok...

what back box is it? the jetex?

Yes, it's a Jetex CAT back system. The tail pipe is a single oval (85mm x 150mm). I think that this is very similar to the standard system although if it's a "better" oval as opposed to a rectangle with round edges then it's not too bad.

I would have preferred twin slash cut pipes.............

If I decide to go with it (have to giv ethem 5 days notice) it's good for everyone else as well as it gives another "off the shelf" option to the Milltek.

Yeah, I think they are Jettex ones.

make sure you take some pics..

Adrian,

I saw the jetex system when we did the RR day a few weeks ago. I have a pic of the backbox on the workbench, I'll post a piccy when I get home.

At the time mike was looking for a guinea pig to test the system on as he had not fitted one on the RS yet. I think he was offering something like a 20% discount then.

It may take a little longer than normal to fit at jabba as they dont have those ramps that tyre centres have. They will use jacks and axle stands and then lay underneath your car.

Manny....you're not supposed to tell me that especially since I'm feeling good about getting a 10% discount. Doh! ;)

Serioulsy though, I'm happy enough to get a discount of any kind.

Would be great if you could post a pic of the exhaust. Ta. Looks ok?

Only another week to go for your remap.:D

Cheers.

Adrian.

piccie of the jetex back box - bit side on but you get the idea!!

jetex_bb.jpg

they offered me the 20% as it would have been the first one fitted....go back to them and blag the extra 10%, or ask who else has had it fitted:)

Thanks for the pic Martin.

Does look kind of similar to the standard but I do like the look of it never the less.

I think your remap is in the same week as Manny's; getting excited yet?:D

yeah can't wait for the fun afterwards, however due to the long wait, things are cropping up in the mean time that could better do with the money....and I haven't even told SWMBO yet - going to have to come up with some excuse for going out that day, maybe a trip to my head office;)

I have looked at exhaust options as it would be better to get this done before the remap.

who has had their remap done as part of the group remap, having seen anyone posting about it?

That one won't fit.

Or let me correct that statement, it will fit but not properly. The tail pipe exits in a straight line from the silencer, have a look at yours, it has a bend to the right as you look at it. This will lokk very much like my first attempt at fitting one to my car, it will hang below and to the left of the cutout, rather like this:

Thanks for posting that Martin.

Here is another from a slightly different angle, from memory the pipe was straight out of the silencer, angled upwards.

and the rest of the system, still in its box.

So I was right :D

nice box....

Do all the boxes come with rollerskates? ;)

Based on it won't fit, I'd go for free fitting :D

Jon,

how did you sort out your exhaust so that it fitted properly?

Do you think Jabba would sort this out?

Cheers.

Adrian.

with a bloody big hammer ?:D

Hmm....the BigK approach :rolleyes::D .

Will give Jabba a buzz later.

If this also a problem with the Milltek or is that ok?

Martin (Gunnie):

I believe Manny is the first one to be remapped. We don't count Jon although he does get the discount to.;)

Just had a chat with Brian and he said that they've already sold one and had no come back on it. Unfortunately they didn't fit it so have no pictures.

If I go with it mine would be the first fitted in house and would feature on the new web site coming out in a couple of weeks.

If it doesn't fit properly Brian said they wold sort it with Jetex so I guess nothing to worry about (fingers crossed!).

Originally Jetex produced the system with twin pipes and then changed it to the oval. It is quite a bit bigger than standard, 85mm x 150 vs 60mm x 120mm.

Cheers.

Adrian.
