Delivery

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to this group and have a quick question.

I ordered a Fabia 1.2 12v (poverty spec) in early May. Because I wanted the sunroof option the dealer told me it would take longer as they do something different on the production line to fit this. He quoted week 28 (Jul 7th) + 3 weeks delivery. Because we wanted it quicker we decided to go for the 6v (week 23 June 2nd + 3 weeks) As delivery approached we were then told that the sunroofed models were being held up and to expect week 29 + 3 weeks. After expressing some dismay he had a look on his computer and found what we wanted at a dealer in Glasgow. This was 17th June. He now says we can have it 1st July (I could walk to Glasgow quicker) but would like us to "contribute" to the

I'd say it comes down to urgently you need/want the car - if you want it soon, then surely it's worth

paying extra for it under the circumstances?

If not, then wait for the ordered one to arrive...

Just my opinion though :D

Welcome to briskoda BTW

Rob.

I thought delivery was included n the price.

from Czechoslovakia maybe but seemingly not Glasgow.

dont be amazed when the dealer drops his px offer as he will say thats what the car is worth then not now.

had it done/ seen it loads of times.

Tell the dealer to think again!!! We got a stonking discount on our new Octavia & the dealer had to source it from another dealers stock. I suggest you also contact Skoda direct as I think the dealer may be out of line. I understood all skoda dealers were duty bound to help each other but I'm probably wrong

Oh & yes welcome to Briskoda, youll learn to like it here

Also get a quote from a private delivery company, I cant believe it actually costs

Sounds like the dealer is taking the p*ss. Sorry!

I know that my dealer would pick up any extra prices - and they were quite happy to swap cars with other dealers to keep customers happy (I spent a while there before buying the car!)

Try talking to Skoda themselves (as has been suggested) - sounds like the dealer is trying to benefit from your eagerness TBH.

What you really need is Big K to post a reply, as he's sure to know the deal...

Actually you might find that this is something to do with the dealers. Scottish dealers are very friendly with each other and have a good network for swapping cars and do it pritty easily. However there not too keen on sending their cars down south for some very long reasons so that might be the problem!

Look at the whole deal - price of new car plus delivery less trade-in - and decide whether or not you think it is reasonable. You have the convenience in this case of getting rid of your old car at the same time you take delivery of the new, which removes a big worry. I would express a reluctance to pay anything towards delivery, but would probably cough up

I've never heard of a dealer charging extra for delivery of a car that's in stock at another dealer. (OK, most of my experience has been with Citroen dealers, but it shouldn't make a difference.)

Hells' Bells! Dealers (in general, not just Skoda) charge a rip-off price for delivery already! Name and Shame 'em!

BTW, welcome to Briskoda!
