fly wheel

Featured Replies

hi, my fabia with 41k on it i have noticed today on idle a slight vibration and slight rattle when foot off the clutch. when pedal depressed noise goes. but the noise comes and goes ? surely cant be DMF at this low mileage ? it is just i wanted to know if it is . would you recomend SMF?

thanks Dan

Yeah that sounds like your dmf is on its way

Should be okay for another 20k dependant on how you drive

start car up with foot on clutch in neutral.

slowly lift foot off the clutch if the dmf is on its way out you will hear a rattling noise

I get this occasionally when cold.disappears once warmed up a bit.i had best get saving then!

A friend has a 07 Fabia SE and the Flywheel is on it's way out.

What sort of price are we talking for a replacement + fitting? They said they were quoted in the region of £1,000 for parts and labour.

I'm bricking it if mine goes!

Thats about what i was looking at for the uprated sachs clutch :-(

£300 will get you a standard DMF and complete clutch kit, not from a dealer though. Add 3 hours labour.

Could be a noisy thrust bearing

did that today no rattle. only on like the odd cycle off the engine it does it sometimes if you get me. or on idle and blip the throttle . its not bad but its there . just seeing if any one had same issue. i have change a DMF before because off same not on a transporter and even with brand new one it made same noise.

cheers

well i use mine for my driving school and have done now for 20 odd thousand, still only on 42k though, you cant listen for rattles from cold though surely? the engines noisy enough! seems ok on mine tbh, ill fit the OEM spec sachs one i think when mine goes, not sure of the cheapest stockist though.
