New Fabia Greenline II - Initial experiences

Featured Replies

Glad to hear the problem has been solved and simply. With the dealer working with Skoda to solve the problem sounds familiar to me.

Yep, they got there in the end even if it took ages to work it out. Glad it was nothing major!

Think I might have spoken too soon... realised today that the cruise control has stopped working... not good! :(

Has anybody else had this happen? I was planning to cruise, got the car up to speed as normal, flicked the switch, pressed the button, and nothing (except a bit of deceleration!).

Looks like I might have to take the car back to the dealers AGAIN!

Sorry to hear more trouble.

I just leave my switch set to on (left) and then press the button as a when I can use it- not often in town/semi town driving. Could you have turned it off not on? can you try to use it again before you send it in to be checked?

Just had call to say our Red Greenline 2 is built and will be with us in a couple of weeks - about a month earlier than we were expecting. Really excited to get it (although it is the wife's car it means I'll see more of my Yeti) and have enjoyed reading the experiences of others on this thread.

We did go for the rear electric windows (two kids) and parking sensor but never bother with a steering wheel and decided against the maxidot after asking what the difference was between the two and being told it basically showed you a picture (will regret that decision now I fear).

Just heard that my GL2 is en route across the seas! Should be with me by the end of the month- black, leather wheel, maxi dot and climate (the last two are an extravagance - the dash will look much better at night!).

Hi Dempsek I did wonder if I'd done something odd, but couldn't be sure and then tried repeatedly to get it to work, but no joy. I also wondered if something had happened on that trip that would cause it to disable but I've been away with work all week so the poor thing has been sitting waiting to be driven again. Gonna give it a good run later and see if the problem sorts itself, but if not its booked in for next weekend.

Hope you / she enjoys it! It's a great little car. I've had a couple of issues but that doesn't change the fact its a fantastic machine. I didn't go for maxidot either - the missus wasn't big on extras and I though it was well spec'd anyway, so just got rear sensors for car park pillar avoidance!

Enjoy mate, I'm sure you will!

Wife had a call last Wednesday saying it was in Germany and would be 2-3 weeks. Got a call yesterday to say it is at the garage and we can pick up Friday.:)

This is about 6 weeks earlier than we were expecting it and having read other topics the quick turnaround has got me slightly worried. Just after ordered it we were told by the garage that Skoda were no longer factory fitting the rear parking sensors and the dealer would fit them but we'd have to pay 40 quid if we wanted them colour coded to match the car. Is this true?

I have a strange inkling that this is not the car we ordered but a car with similar spec (excluding the rear sensors) that was cancelled and the garage have taken it and are fitting the sensors. We were expecting a nice new reg but will now have a late reg 11 and the dealer will get the sale in before the new regi come out.

I worry far too much I know. Should I be worried or just happy to have the car earlier than we thought.

hi Cpsmithy

just to reassure you - I ordered a greenline estate included rear parking sensors, & a load of other extras, a week after ordering the dealer informed me that the parking sensors will not be available & could not give a reason - ( ordered end March expected in Sept?)

Hope you like your new car.

It was suggested that the reversing sensors were made in Japan and supply has been cut due to the tsumani.

It was also suggested that VW were trimming some specs because they were losing sales to Skoda, which they earn less on.

But it could well be Japan.

Enjoy mate, I'm sure you will!

I'm sure I will- thanks!

Had a call today that the car is 'pre-delivery' whatever that means... The upshot is that it will be with me within 10 days at the latest. This is quite a bit earlier than the expected September delivery. Havent sold my bloomin car yet - will have to raid my savings! Anyone want to buy a 2 1/2yr old Golf GT (tdi)?

I think parking sensors are an issue for all manufactures because of production problems in Japan.

Good luck with the new cars guys.

Parking Sensors are still being fitted by the Factory on GL2's, as can be seen in both the configerator and on the Skoda GL2 page...

There are no problems with this as far as I'm aware

my original order for parking sensors on my Greenline estate was canceled by the dealer - I have just asked them if they have been reinstated & they told yes they can now be added back onto the order!

2tite be careful once the order is at a certain point in Skoda's system (I think when you get a build week) you are unable to vary the order.

It sounds to me like the dealers ordered the car without reversing sensors.

Hi Dempsek

well I dont know why they were taken off my order their confirmation showed them & it was some days later that they contacted me to say no longer available & this was just after the Japanese sunamai

for whatever reason they were canceled - the dealer is now telling me (after I asked )I can now add them back onto to my order (ETA was Sept at time of ordering)-

having never had them & it is not a huge car - do I really need them ? that is the question ?

how do others find their parking sensors ?

how do others find their parking sensors ?

Handy.

While you may not need them, they are useful for the odd time you don't see a low object and would have done damage to the back of the car.

Saving one prang in the whole time you have the car makes them worthwhile in my opinion.

Seconded, they do work very well... But don't work if there is an overhang above the level of the bumper! ;)

Been to look at my new Greenline today, should get it tomorrow. (I'm CPsmithy's Missus). The Parking sensors are still not on it and won't be on it in time for collection tomorrow. I'll have to take it back to the dealer once they get the sensors in to have them put on. Not very happy about this as it's back and forth.

Also lots of last minute stuff to get it organised. I popped into the dealership to sign off the paperwork on my way back to work I got a phoncall from them about the insurance. Hadn't even mentioned it to me so that car isn't even taxed yet. Thankfully a quick call has got it all sorted but surely they could have given me the details to do this on Monday when they said the car was ready for collection Friday?

Do you think I can ask for some mats as compensation for the messing about, especially since they have had the money for the parking sensors since March when I ordered the car?

I would have thought so, and don't let them charge you extra for colour coding them either, its their fault they weren't on it.

Totally agree. The cost of a new bumper when you've mashed it into one of the council's "parking aids" (bollards just out of sight) are far greater! Especially handy for tight spaces!
