New Fabia Greenline II - Initial experiences

Featured Replies

Just been given a provisional build week of week 16, end of April, so it sounds like the cogs are starting to turn again at Skoda Central!

thats really good, as i said mine is b/w 19 so your 3 weeks ahead of me :( but i suppose the added bonus might be that with the 3 weeks for delivery ill be on a new plate :D

Well I'm prepared for a bit of slippage, and it may well be put back. Still provisional is better than no date. Nowt certain in life these days!

Car arrived at the dealers today! I'm well excited! Not picking it up until next Saturday though, sadly, due to the sale of my old car and being snowed under at work. The wait will kill me! :S Going to have to keep myself occupied with the user manual...

Just wondering, from those who've done this sort of things before, if anybody could give me some tips of what to do/expect when I go to pick it up? It's my first new car... Anything I should watch out for?

Thanks guys

Inspect the car all over BEFORE you sign anything. Look for any obvious paint defects, damage etc. Check that all options that you specified are actually present. It's a brand new car, so you can expect it to be in perfect condition.

In truth I've never had cause for complaint with any of my new Skodas, so you should have little to worry about.

If it all checks out and you're happy, sign the papers, pay the man and go enjoy the car :) ..... and put a photo up on here ;)

For goodness sake don't baby it in the early days, just drive it as you normally would

Hi best way to find out whats in the box, in the bowl were the spare wheel in boot there is a piece of paper with rows and rows of letters and numbers, these are codes which tell you exactly whats on the car,if youve got and ipad ,ipod or iphone there is an app that will read the codes and give you the answer

Sounds pretty smart to me, cheers.

Can the dealer decipher the codes for me with no i gear?

Cheers for the tips. I will make sure I give the car a good inspection before I sign. It's probably a good thing I'm waiting until next week to pick up as it will help me stay rational! And it's good to know other people have so much faith in Skodas - its one of the main reasons I've bought one. The dealer has been pretty good - he knows I've never bought a new car before and could have tried to take advantage but instead has been very helpful and informative.

Yeah I won't baby it. I'm about to read up on running in the engine (both in the manual and on some of the posts I've seen on here) and I've seen people say the best thing to do is drive it normally. Being a greenline I'm a bit worried I'll go over the top trying to "eco drive" it, but I'll try not to get obsessive about the mpg until I've let the thing find its feet!

Cheers mate. Yeah I am but trying to be patient! I'll get some pics up once I've collected it... It's in red - not to everyone's taste I know but it's a bit of an obsession of mine! Don't think I've seen one in red though yet so I'll definitely get some piccys up.

Fingers crossed for yours! :)

BTW does anybody know how to edit the subject of this thread (e.g. to say photos added like some of the others have done)?

Just noticed something in the user manual (the one linked to in the pinned thread on this board). Am I right in understanding that single locking of the car with the key deadlocks the car, but if you press lock again it undoes this (so basically single locked)?

Looking at pg 37 if anybody is wondering what I'm on about... seems to be the opposite to any other car I've had...

Think you just press edit on your very first post and then the subject should be editable above where you type

Cheers mate. I thought I'd tried that but I was probably clicking on the wrong thing ;)

Yes, you are correct.

Yes, you are correct.

Cheers, thought I might have mis-read it... does seem a bit odd but that's only relative towhat I've had before. I'll have to get used to that!

Yeah it's confusing but I think my mk4 Golf was the same yet Ford and Vauxhall seem to have the double press for deadlocking. Shame they can't all be the same!

Ah well that'd explain it, since its a Ford, then a Vauxhall that I've been driving in recent years. My first car didn't even have central locking!

Picked it up earlier - will get pics up later this weekend. So far I've only driven 4 miles home and its fantastic. Such a joy to drive... I can see I'm gonna get on well with this car!

Just to add a big thanks to Lee at Preston Motors who has been excellent from day 1 through to pick up. Great service!

Well put a few more miles on it now, varying between 30mph suburban road (with and without pot holes) and dual carriageways, and it's fantastic to drive. Feeling the hard suspension over the local speed bumps but if it stops me crunching the lowered body I'm not gonna complain!

Not managed to get the stop/start to kick in yet - coming up with the " STOP START NOT AVAILABLE" message - though it has just occured to me that perhaps it was switched off. Did anybody else find they needed to get a few miles on it before stop/start worked?

Nope, its definitely switched on. Any other GL2 drivers find it took a while before auto stop start worked?

Gonna have to get in touch with the garage anyway as the intermittent wipers don't seem to be working...

Cheers Dude

Have you got yours yet? I seem to remember we ordered at a similar time...
