Vrs hid kit

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new on here and I'm sure this topic has been covered many times.

I've searched for quite a while on google and on here about fitting a HID kit to my 2006 '55' plate vrs. Some people have said yes there brilliant and others have said they've been rubbish, scattering the light all over the show.

I'm new to hid kits and what to look for price and temperature wise, any help would be much appreciated :)

Cheers Mike

4300k = pure White

6000k = slightly blue

8000k = more blue than White

Anything over this would be ridiculous... General consensus on this forum is that they are illegal as they arent self levelling etc but I am sure someone will link you to a DVLA website or something.

I`v had some for ages. After last weekend of trial fitting proper projectors i think i`m going to remove them now until i fitted the genuine projectors, they look so cheap and nasty now compared to either uprated normal bulbs or proper Xenons. I was never flashed or has issues blinding people, but they do look rubbish tbh. Come 2012 theres talk of them needing the full kit to be legal also so worth thinking about.

I had one of the "designed for reflectors" H7R HID Kits, and it was very bright, and I never got flashed once in the 6 months I had them fitted.

I've since replaced it with a set of uprated Philips bulbs, and although not as bright, they provide much more usable light on the road as the beam is properly focussed, and not just scattered all over the road.

My HID kit passed MOT and he said the beam pattern was perfect. I never get flashed (unless I overtake people at 100mph past schools).

I went for 6000k from HIDs-Direct. Go with the slim ballast and you get no warning lights either.

I don't know about others, but I don't bother/gave up flash bad HID kits. Either mis-read by other road users, or they have idea why I flashed them.

That said, not all are bad, but the only ones I've seen in Fabias have been glaring.

I still think that poorly adjusted lights are worse, along with some super bright fogs, but i`d agree now hid kits in normal headlights kick up a bit of glare. Still, by the sounds of it it`ll all be over in a years time so back to using "uprated bulbs" and the like. Or proper retro fitting B)

Yes mine are bright and glairy. No I dont get flashed. Yes im gonna buy them for every car I ever have. Dont get me wrong at the first oppertunity I get im going for oem projectors, looks much better.

Me thinks he's kidding. Or I would hope so. Bit sick though...!

I vote no. They seem to just be bright, glary and look tacky blue in my experience. That said, those are the ones that stand out. Maybe 4300k are fine but I just haven't picked up on it because... they're not bright, glary and tacky blue.

I wouldn't personally do it myself unless I had projectors at the very least.

yes hes joking! hes just flipping the people off on this forum who are so anal and moan about everything

All im wanting the HID kit for is to see better at night, not really too fussed about the colour, but a blue tint would be nice.

Or would i be better off saving alot of money and uprating the standard bulbs?

I'd say go for the uprated bulbs. They are cheaper, shouldn't have any alignment issues, and are also 100% legal, so you should have no worries come MoT time or if you get a pull from the old bill.

Thats the same kit that i've got (exept i've got the large ballasts) never been flashed and passed an MOT in january

I've never been pulled or flashed for mine, and I've got 8000k HID's. I find them much better than any standard bulb you buy in Halfords, etc. I only paid £28 for my kit off eBay, had them 2months or so, and haven't had any problems at all. It's all down to personal preference really. Some people hate them, and are really anal about them, some people like them.

No one will fail the MOT yet cos the rules havent changed yet :rofl:

I have some 5000k ones from hids4u, I opted for there anti glare bulbs and tbh it cuts most of the glare out. Took a little while fiddling about to get them just right but since doing so the light from them is fantastic. Couple them with some night breakers for full beam and you will forever live in daylight :p Also the 5000k is a very brilliant white with no blue, looks much more factory 'imo'.

I have an HID kit on my vrs, not sure on the rating, but there are MEGA bright, they was on when i bought the car and i get flashed often tbh, i think they look good though, they are set correctly etc, just very very bright, depends what kind of money your looking to spend really.
