Sinking feeling

Featured Replies

Has anyone on the forum noticed the driver's seat sinking on the door side?

The seat cushion on mine feels like it has sagged and not as supportive as it used to be.

Compared with my previous (now my wife's) Octy L&K which has well padded and supportive seats the Superb's seats seem a little short of padding and I also feel that the leather face on the drivers seat has "sagged" a little and I also am not too much on the heavy side!!

Yeah mine has sagged a little and also started to show wear quite quickly ie less than 10,000 miles , I dont have high hopes for the longevity of the leather

Thats great news for me! Having had a test drive in one recently the self and same point of the seat caused me discomfort for being to hard and pressing on my thigh( see Superb dilemma thread). But it is an interesting observation and I wonder what state peoples drivers seats are in now after differing mileages? One thing you want in a drivers seat is support so is quite a worry if its reducing over time. My two previous cars have done the same but not really lost too much support. How many miles has yours done now Philpix?

I've tried lifting the seat cushion up to max setting which helps a little but the support is not there like when new.

My car has done 32,000 miles and the drivers seat is still fine. Feels just the same to me now as it did when I bought the car, the leather seems to have stretched a little but thats all. At the beginning of June my Superb will be embarking on its second 4000 mile round trip to southern Spain, if its anything like last year I expect it to be a very relaxing drive.

I saw stretched leather in showroom car, and honestly I was disappointing with fact that it can show so easily wear signs. In my Audi after 4 years there were no sign of stretching at all, seats were firm and supportive like the first day. Is there anything that can be done about it? Is there something you can insert bellow to add some more support? Any kind of foam or something like that?

It is more visible on beige leather than black...

I've owned a lot of cars in my time, I find you tend to sit towards the door more than central in the seat, this is what I think does it to the seat, seat never seems to be inline with the wheel and pedals in any car.

I'm pretty sure you can claim for that, they might fob you off first attempt, but I remember testing an Avensis that had stretched in the farter zone, when I mentioned it the sales guy said don't worry if it happens we will fix it for you.

I've noticed that too. I am selling my Picasso, and one of the buyers asked didn't believed car had 20k km because seat looked used on side. I never noticed that, but seat has few wrinkles on driver exit side. Than I was examining how that happened, and I have realized that biggest stress is entering and exiting from car. But on top of that I have noticed that I am leaning toward outer edge of seat and I never noticed that. Probably I was too lazy to get little bit further toward middle. And seating position in Picasso is quite high (SUV high), so I hope I wont have such problems with Superb.
