Symphony Stereo

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Had a search on this but haven't found too much. Unplugged my stereo which is now in "safe" mode requiring a 4 digit code which I don't have!! Phoned the local dealer who want £50 to unlock which to me seems crazy expensive.

Does anyone know if there are any cheaper alternatives? I've had a good old Google sesh and cant seem to find much in the way of codes for 'newer stereos'.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Should be in the owners manual or on a card somewhere? eBay have unlock services for £30.

Try this link not sure o the cost but you will need the serial number from your cd player

Had a look at this one but states for pre 1999 Grundig Units Only :(

Owner's manual wasn't supplied with the car very annoyingly...."lost it"

How can Skoda charge £50 when VW provide the same service for free? Not sure if they would do a Skoda head unit though?

From what I've read it looks like a relatively straight forward process for the dealership to plug in the stereo and the relevant details to retrieve the code but apparently "its not as simple as that". The car would need to be booked in and at the earliest Thursday this week!! I'm no expert on the matter but am I missing something here?

I didn't know VW offered this service for free! Makes it more of a joke if you ask me.

Quick Google brought up http://www.dndservices.co.uk/Skoda-Symphony-code.html - They do appear to offer a service on a selection of Skoda radios, price doesn't look too bad either, might be worth giving them a bell.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for this. Just found this one searching myself. Works out at £25 with their postage costs plus whatever it costs me to send it which will certainly be a damn site better than £50!!

Or there are 9999 different combos you could try lol

It locks you out after two attempts for an hour! Might take me quite some time!

I also had a nice cup of coffee and biscuits free with my VW radiocode which took them about 15 minutes and that included driving the car in and out of the workshop :)

You dont need to know the code, as it is stored in the cars ECU. Assuming the car has never had an aftermarket headunit fitted then the code should be sent to it from the ECU over the data bus. There is a procdure for this to work correctly and its in the radio manual. I believe you need to turn on the ignition but not start the engine, so that the ECU is powered up and then turn the radio on. Leave the SAFE message on screen and after about 30 seconds it should go off and the radio come on.

Thanks for this, not sure if I've actually left it with the ignition half on for a little while yet so will give it a blast tomorrow.
