Swissol It Is...

Featured Replies

Even my better half agrees, the AutoGlym wax is pants and looks only good when it has just been applied. After I washed it this weekend (using AutoGlym shampoo), it was ok-ish, but not as shiny as the first time I applied it. You could almost say the car was matte black, rather than metallic :(

And seeing as me and the skud got into a long term relationship, I figure it is worth spending a bit on making her look good (just like with the missus ;)) and I have decided (after reading the positive reports about it) to go for Swissol stuff, as nothing is good enough than the best for my baby :D

I know Colin was working on getting some sort of deal with Mark (aka the Wax Wizzard), but it has been quiet lately, and I'm looking to buy sooner rather than later (as I can still afford/get away with it now I have a job).

Can anyone tell me which products/starter kit is best to get for my black beauty and what sort of prices I'm looking at (would certainly prefer a Briskoda deal, especially if that benefits the site in some way).

Borrowed a kit from Jon (TaviaRS), only did a small area but wow is all I can say.

Have to agree with that , have also decided to get some swissol kit , but I have also been waiting for Mark to get back to us .

Hope they do a bug and tar remover that's not too messy ;)

My better half wants her Mondeo treated - and of course the Octy will also benefit. Any idea which is the best kit to go for? I downloaded the price list from the previous thread but it has a large number of choices.

Anyone have any clues/advice/experience? The Mondeo has quite a number of small scratches/swirls and some dull spots, whereas the Octavia has a much better finish.

Any help gratefully received.

Howard

I think Jon (TaviaRS) did a review of the Swissol Starter pack. He also recommends which was to choose as well.

I will probably get the small starter pack once Colin has sorted it with Mark (WaxWizard).

Tar and bug remover? Try WD40; it works really well.

Cheers.

As you have a white RS I would talk to pete he has perfected a way of turning your grills white and rid them of bugs and tar at the same time. ;)

I've read the review that Stuart did again, and think I narrowed it down to the following products:

1) Cleaner Fluid (for initial 'thourough' clean)

2) Car Bath (for normal 'weekly' cleaning)

3) Saphir Wax (as Jon swears by it ;))

4) Paint Rubber Set (to remove those nasty bugs, tar spots, etc)

5) MicroPolish (for the buffing)

6) Cleaner Fluid Pad (for applying of the wax)

Is that correct? I also found an 'entry kit' (aparently for 10 applications) on a Scoobynet .pdf file (

I would suggest giving Mark a call, mention Briskoda & you WILL get the discount !

Thats right Graham, talk to Mark.

I got the starter pack (which comes in a nice little coolbag) a paint rubber (which I still call a claybar) and a microfibre cloth. Think it was about

Yep I bought the same kit as Tavia & its all you need.

However For the ultimate result get Mark to prepare your car for you & then all you need is wax, Microfibre cloth, wax applicator spongy thingy, shampoo & if your fussy tyre dressing. Mark also does the engine bay & interior which the kit dosent include anything for.

Take a look at the atatched thread off Scrubbynet to see what Mark can achieve, this was a highish mileage Porker.

After I spoke to Colin last night, he was going to give Mark another prompt into our direction, so hopefully he is back in town to help out.

PS, that url is defunct Stuart...

Better? :D

A 'helpful' Moderator would have edited the url rather than scored a point..... :D

I stand suitably rebuked by my colleague. :(

The reason I didn't edit was 'cos it looked the same as mine

OOOHHHHHH!!!! That engine bay .....

Must have a go at mine. It's not what you'd call that dirty but it's a million miles away from that :(

I spotted the missing ID straight away, but there again as a pilot I am trained to pay attention to detail. Hope you have a better day than thus far, Jon. :D

Incorrect error spotted by our pilot!

That wasn't the error, the ID was correct it was the asp bit that was incorrect

Is that the landing strip? Oh no its the M4 :D

Well all I can say is thanks for sorting it.

So if we buy Tw's old 747 as a group transporter we now have a peelot to drive it. Group track day in America anyone

The original didn't have the letters ID before the number at the end whereas yours did - but I see you've destroyed the evidence. And no, I haven't ever landed on the wrong runway, but its not that unusual, nor is landing on the wrong airfield - particularly where they are close to each other and the vis is poor.

When I flew the Shackleton I was involved in the odd incident or 2 along the lines you suggest, Jon. The first involved dropping small practice bombs at night on a metal buoy moored off the coast of Northern Ireland. The target run started when radar picked up the buoy and it was the bomb-aimer (navigator) who released the bombs when he identified the target. The post-flight photos showed that we had bombed a small fishing boat on one of the attacks - but in our defence it shouldn't have been where it was. The second similar incident was some years later in the Aegean during a major NATO exercise. The sea was very rough and we picked up an intermittent radar contact in an area where there could be submarines but no surface ships. Fortunately the bomb-aimer saw the very large American cruiser just in time to avoid dropping practice bombs on it! But I don't suppose the Americans were very pleased to be overflown by an aircraft with its bomb doors open.

Wasn't there a story about a Dan Dare pilot who put his commuter jet down on a disused WWII runway in Northern Ireland some 12 miles short of the actual runway? Apparently it took 2 or 3 days to clear the weeds so that they could get it back off again.

Or is it one of those urban myths?

Howard

(BTW - Still no-one beats Dan Dare's cooked breakfast)

And wouldnt that make a refreshing change...

The Yanks being victims of "friendly fire" and not the cause of it

So true.

PS I'm expecting a 'Howler' from a Moderator shortly, so had better get back on topic. Any chance of a Swissol sampler kit, ie enough to do the car thoroughly once?

The entry kit is enough for about 10 times... Smallest you can get unfortunately :( Unless Mark has come up with something especially for us 'hesitants' ;)

Is that the
