Now thats a hard one, off on holiday so I hope by the end of next week to have thought of something but not promising !!!!!

Just ordered my starter kit from Mark, found him really helpfull - esp seeing as he's so busy.

Just a quick querie to those that have used swissol - would this be correct order ?

1.Wash Car.

2.Cleanse Car.

3.Wash Car.

4.Wax Car

Final push came when I washed my vRS last weekend -- I have only ever used Autoglym products -- couldnt believe how much of a struggle I was having getting rid of fly squats -- and swirl marks -- you would'nt chuckle..... :(

skodaw (Dave)...I have enclosed full instructions for you with the kit. Follow them and you wont go wrong. Dont foreget, if you get stuck or are unsure, PLEASE CALL ME even if it is the weekend.

Dave, thats the way to do it. And you'll never ever look back :D

By the way, after the first big clean, you can suffice with just 3) and 4), and when doing 4) you dont need to do the whole car, but just the bits that are 'front facing'. With that I mean the bits that would catch the most flies. For instance you dont have to wax the boot everytime you wash it as it hardly is exposed to the elements whilst driving...

Guys, a little note of reality here. Mark - I appreciate that you put a lot of elbow grease into preparing a car - but then so can the owner. Charging

A bit harsh Nick ........?

I agree with the doing it yourself bit as I have bought a Swissol starter pack and am well pleased with the results .

Really, Pete? Did you shell out to have your car professionally cleaned or did you just pay the

I just want to bring this thread down to earth ....

Quite right Nick ,............... the wax is the most expensive part of the kit , but I can well believe that it will last for 40-50 polishes as it is solid not a liquid , therefore you use much less .

Yes Swissol products aren't cheap , but if you want quality products you have to pay ......................but you are wrong about the

If I'd wanted "A couple of bottles of polish" I would have gone to the poundshop -- what I want is a first class product to help me keep my car in first class condition. I have thought long and heard before spending this sort of money, don't get me wrong - it IS a hell of a lot of money, but that said it is a small percentage of what the car is worth -- I intend to keep the car for quite a long time, therefore it is imprtant that I look after the car -- Previously I have used Autoglym products exclusively - also not cheap - especially when you consider the time it takes with their products.

Whilst I don't purchase "Designer" gear - I will and do spend money on products that I know are good or that are recommended to me - it also helps if I get good service - you only need to take a look at some of the previous posts to see the level of service that Mark provides.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" stands with Swissol -- Autoglym resin polish has approx 3% carnuba wax - -saphir wax has 40% -- just that fact alone accounts for quite a lot of the extra costs.

The reality is - some people are prepared to spend time & money looking after their cars -- and others just can't be @rsed.....

Autoglym -

At the end of the day - you pay's your money - you takes your choice.

At least it means our cars our cleaner & shinier than a lot of cars on the road.....

Nick,

The "the can't be @arsed" wasn't aimed at you -- have seen the pictures of your cars on yahoo -- certainly up to scratch. It was aimed primarily at quite a few of my customers -- who drive 30K plus cars and never wash them between visits to us - I've even had 1 admit to making up a fault so he could get his car cleaned!

The gain(hopefully) will be improved looks of car & (after initial clean) taking less time -- the autoglym takes for ever when polishing -- you have to go over to remove residue dust.

Out of interest - what products do you use ??

Nick , I don't think anyone is suggesting you don't wash and polish your car and also no-one is forcing you to buy Swissol products , it's a personal thing ..........you buy whatever you want .

Currently? - A bottle of TurtleWax polish -

Fair enough - I must admit,it will need to be absolutely amazing for me to keep buying Swissol, but reading all the positive comments - it looks like it will be. And if not - may join you with the turtle wax - don't think I'll return to Autoglym -- good - but not good enough. Funnily enough my Dad swore by the old solid turtle wax -- do they still make that ??

Dave, regarding the solid Turtle Wax - dunno mate, but according to the propaganda, you now have enough to polish your car the next 50 times, so you won't be needing to worry for at least a year.

I maintain my position, that elbow grease is the key! In the Swissol case - it's just somebody else's elbow grease (at

Hi All,

I'll chip my tuppence worth in for what its worth...........I 'took the plunge' and ordered some Swissol Onyx starter wax from ScoobyWorld. This is basically the 'starter' wax and is the cheapest on offer from Swissol,I must say I have been very impressed by it so far.

I have tried many products on the car so far (ranging from DiamonBrite when I bought the car, through to AutoGlym, Zymol and Meguiars) and found that a combinaniton of these works for me. For instance now I wouldn't dream of using anything but Zymol to wash the car with but I am more than happy to use Auto Glym products for upholstery/carpets through to vinyl/plastic and wheels (their Tar remover is pretty good too).

After the car is washed I found Meguiars drying towel to be very good at quick drying compared with the traditional chamois. I'm now also using their tyre dressing gel which seems to do the trick and bring the tyres up nicely (and it lasts a bit longer than other similar products). Finally waxing, the Swissol stuff is really good and I must admit, I was pretty sceptical before I used it but many opinions on here seemed to be similar (e.g very happy/pleased etc) so I decided to try it.

As I mentioned previously, it is very good and works a treat with Black and seems to bring out the fullness of the colour a treat. I have also left my judgement on it until after a couple of washes, with other products they do not seem to last and/or like being washed, and found the Swissol stuff to be very similar to the way it looked after the first coat. You also don't need to use a great amount of it unlike some other products and I can see it lasting for a very long time judging by the amount i used from the jar. Through time i believe the cost will even itself out in that it is a big outlay for car wax compared with other brands but these perhaps will not last and be as good for as long as Swissol.

All in all, it's horses for courses in that whatever suits you and your budget is the best choice regardless of public taste opinions etc.If its in your budget to spend

Good resume, Hugh. I'm not meaning to put down the quality of the Swissol products - I'm sure they're great, just rather expensive. Good luck to you Swissol fans. I'll stick with my cheap spray for now.

Thanks Nick...........that was my point really, YOU are happy with what you use and that's fine.Maybe you could ask one of the guys nearby to you who's had the Swissol treatment for a quick demo/look at the product (unless you have tried that already?).

Seeing it first hand may make you mind up once and fo all....to use or not use!

Cheers

Hugh

Nick

I read your comments with interest. However I dont know where you get the figure of

Well said Mark.

As I have said before -- you only get what you pay for in this life -- Hand made products will always be more expensive than mass produced, and as you say the amount thats taken up on each application means it will last longer.

But at the end of the day -- if Nick can't justify the expense - that's upto him. The world would be a very boring plaice if everyone was the same

By the way -- Have received starter kit -- really looking forward to giving it a try -- the car will need it by the weekend -- will have covered somewhere in the region of 550 miles this week - a little over 5 times what it normally does.

Hi Dave.

Great to read that you got the package in the end. Have fun with it etc and PLEASE do call me if you get stuck or want me to talk you thru.....even if it is a weekend.

550 miles..thats a day trip for me! ;) Thats why I do 35k miles in 7 months each year. Dont forget that quest I asked you re cruise control.....THX.

Please ENJOY and have fun. PS...don't let the missus smell the goodies...she'll want them in her make up kit!

Mark, sorry you feel insulted. I agree you have to cover your costs and

I do hope this isn't turning into a flaming war, and I don't want to add to it, but...

From experience, Mark does a terrific job with the car. I have paid 'professional' valet companies

Howard - I didn't want to start a flame war either. I just felt the cost issue needed highlighting. There was a lot of praise, undoubtedly justified, for Mark and the products, but that was from "fans" as it were. I wanted to put the point of view of the undecided man in the street, for whom the cost is a big part of the decision. Nothing I said was aimed at Mark personally.
