coil pack

Featured Replies

car back now and running sweet, if you are still getting it main dealer serviced they will let you know, if not you need to ring them , either way they will be replaced if effected. They replaced all 4 of mine, my mate was a bit busy at work today but will send me details of what engine codes are effected. Skoda did not give me a printout or invoice as I am not the customer, ( skoda gb are, as they are paying) but they did say they will forward a copy on to me. Either way will get to know

Hey fella, where did you take yours to get done? If I'm going to take mine it it'll be handy if the place I call already knows about the situation. :)

BigC, most Skoda dealers know of the recall. When you ring just quote recall 28F7. I was told by the service manager that the recall affected vehicles between 02 and 05 and only the 06 VRs. If your car is on the original coil packs like mine was, then you will get the coil packs changed free of charge :)

It was DM Keiths in Bradford, emma in service knows the script

when i worked for partco, we kept spare parts for the AA and the rac. At the time the AA did the call out for vw cars under warranty and they were always in getting coil packs for the vw's. there was two types that we kept, we sold so many i could remember the part numbers for both in my head for booking out or ordering from the local vw dealer.

Ta. Bought my car from DMKHudds so know them.

@56Octy, thanks for the code, it's handy to have a local recommendation anyway.

Hi, did it kick up warning light when it started running bad?

My 56 plate put the engine light on last night :( , handbook says emmisions, but if a coil has started to play up I guess that will screw up the emissions as unburnt fuel will go into the exhaust.

Seems to run reasonably smooth, no obvious misfire or anything, but I think its gone into limp mode as its lacking power

Getting the code read today.

Will also ring local dealer to check on this recall, would be handy if it is a coil pack and not something else.

Fingers crossed it not anything to expensive.

I'd get that checked out asap, and minimise driving with it on. Had a similar ECU "fault" with a previous petrol Accord, result one burnt cat. They are very expensive to replace!

I have an 06 TFSI and my coal dealer in Newport told me there was a service action to replace the coil pack, even though I had booked it in for an different problem. Runs exactly the same after tey were changed as before, but the point is ring the dealer, they will check on the skoda UK database to see if your car both needs the change and whether it has been done or not. Any garage that undertakes this work will have charged the costs back to skoda UK, the database wil be pretty accurate as I'm sure few dealers would do this out of their own pocket.

As 56 Octy says it is a 28F7 re-call replace all 4 ignition coils

28205699 R&R coils .4

000010006 AC5-1 ABS campaign sticker

07K905715F SP/ORD ignit.coil

My engine number is BWA 024380

Mine's a 58 TSi. Are the later coil packs more reliable??

is this recall across the whole vag range , my mate has just bought an audi a4 s line and is having coil pack problems

Recall across the whole vag range yes 58 plate updated and ok

I have just spoken to my dealer of choice. My 56 plate (2006 MY - registered 10th Jan 2007) 2.0 T-FSI is potentially affected and is booked in on 9th May for a check-up.

Correct me if i'm wrong but are you saying yours is a 58 plate and had coils replaced under recall??

No mine is an 56 plate, I was saying the coil packs on a 58 plate, were different( updated) so they are ok

Mine has been in today for this.

Four new coil packs and a full valet free of charge. Nice!

went to skoda today and mentioned recall , car is booked in next week to get sorted. ill post up when job is done.

Just finally called up about this, am booked in for next week, great stuff.

Booked mine in this morning to have them changed in a few days.

Should only take half hour, so having it done on the way to work.

It's annoying that it takes a post on a forum to find out about these things.

If you don't use the Skoda Stealer regularly, you'd never find out about a recall...

Got this sorted today, quick turn-around, but no valet (car was filthy outside too, really could've done with one!).

Also asked them if they could de-activate the seat belt alarm (which they refused to do as it's a safety issue), and also activate anti-hijack which they claimed they'd done, but nothing happened when I drove off. Jeez!

So, off to the "Who's got VCDS in your area" folder!

Having seen this post and visiting my dealer today, I am now the proud owner of 4 new coil packs on my MY 2006 (2007/56) 2.0 T-FSI. My car has only been dealer serviced, but I received no notification of this recall - big thumbs down to Skoda UK. But big thumbs up to all the knowledgable folk on Briskoda.

Just had a coil pack fail on my 2005 Octavia Vrs going down the M5.

Many thanks to the AA who got me going within an hour. Also many thanks to those who have posted on this forum.

just phone my local Skoda dealer and my car has a 'field notice', I think it was called, on the coil packs. Now booked in for next week.
