An Audi built in a SEAT factory, but with a price premium that is probably not much better in day to day useage than a Yeti or Tiguan IMO.

I actually quite like that - which is surprising as the A3 does nothing for me at all.

IMO most (if not all) Audi's look better than the equivalent from Skoda, BUT this comes at a large price .... which is the lack of spec for money, not sure i would pay the huge extra cost just for a slightly better looking car.

Ditto. What might tempt me at least to take a look at some future date is the 208bhp 4wd version (with - maybe - DSG though the specs don't seem to be clear on that as yet), which is what I always wanted in a Yeti. And assuming that the emissions from the 208bhp Golf GTi engine haven't gone through the roof in the transition to 4wd, blunter shape etc.

.....blunter shape etc.

Due to that angled rear window it still has a very good Cd of 0.32 though... So this Q3 is not as blunt as you'd expect!

I like the interior of this car, it's very nice :). The styling is a bit X1-ish in profile and I don't think it looks any better than the Tiguan.

Sleeker shape than a Yeti and don't underestimate the power of the rings for that smile factor. However what price for 4wd with even a few moderate extras? I would love one but I doubt I can justify the almost inevitable significant extra cost over the Yeti.

One has to wonder:

Longitudinal engines with Torsen Differentials or transverse with Haldex 4???

Yawn..... Why on earth do ALL the new Audis look exactly like the others? They only do Small, Medium and Large now of the exact same design over and over and over and OVER again.........

But this one looks like they took the now withdrawn from the UK market and pig ugly Renault Koleos and added Audi Q5 bits to it!!!!!

I agree! It's just another boring jelly mould like the cash cow. The greatest appeal of the Yeti is its' boxy shape.

I think I have read that they are going to use Haldex as it keeps the costs down. It certainly works in the Yeti as any of us the 4wd would agree.

Lots of huge pictures in my original link too:

Had it not been for the Q7 and Q5 looking so similar I'd have loved this. Right size and a lovely interior. But so far no idea if the sunroof opens (a must for me) and it will never have rear seats that can stay at home. So no thanks from me (apart from the price of course also being too high with all the same goodies I have now!)

Nice pictures, but as a car .....

............... Blah .... yuk ...... argh .... :thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

Mind you there will no doubt be plenty of Audi lovers who will buy one.

However the rumoured 3 door Porsche SUV based on the Audi Q5; now that could be interesting. :p

Q3 probably built to compete against the Nissan Juke?

I like Audis, always have done. However I've always struggled to justify paying Audi prices when a VW badged car of pretty much the same quality is available for a significantly lower price. More recently I've come to the realisation that even a VW is a mistake - hence I bought the Yeti. Actually, price is not the only motivation here (though it helps) - I actually think the Yeti is a much better car, and better looking, than the Tiguan that I considered. I doubt the Tiguan has the kind of fan club the Yeti has developed either ... can't see their drivers grinning and waving at each other. Badge snobs will of course buy the new Audi (and continue to buy the Tiguan). People in the know, however, will happily buy the Yeti and enjoy some excellent holidays with the cash they've saved. Deep down I'd still like an Audi A4 Allroad though ... :D

Looks like every other Audi...

I wonder if that colour is the new colour coming on the Yeti? To replace Tangerine.

Exactly what I thought when I saw that colour. Say Tangerine and Orange to me and that is what I was expecting. Not the washed out browny whatever that they did dish up in the end. But in saying that at least it is less confusing than the Octavia's blue that is called grey something and the grey that is called blue something. Daft.

BMW did this Small, Medium and Large cloning business in the 1990s. They got a lot of flack for it and changed things come the next generation to be more distinctive between ranges. Audi is getting a LOT of flack for their designs at the moment too in the press. In isolation each car is gorgeous with the best interiors known to man. But as a range they all look exactly the same and there is no incentive to spend more money to buy a Q5 over a Q3 or an A8 over an A6 or even an A4 since the neighbours will have no idea whatsover that you paid (much) more for the one than the other.

Sorry, Audi, nice try, but you still get a lot of car for your money with Skoda, and the build quality is better too!

Viewing the tech specs in Autocar, the Q3 is very much a Yeti/Tiguan clone. The only tasty extra bits are the higher powered engines than those fitted in the Yeti. Bet they'll come at quite a price though.

Measurements appear similar and where there are differences, they seem to favour the Yeti. There is no mention of the clever rear seating arrangements originated in the Roomster and again in the Yeti.

No doubt the quality of materials used will be better in the Audi than the Skoda but I think that the Czech workforce have a better reputation for putting cars together than the ex 'Seat' setup where the Q3 will be built. I personally prefer cheaper things put together properly to more expensive but assembled with less care. And I reckon a top spec Q3 could well be up to £10k more than my top spec Yeti.

And I reckon a top spec Q3 could well be up to £10k more than my top spec Yeti.

I think it'll be more than 10k over a Yeti for the top spec one.

The options list will probably be quite impressive too.

yawn...... audi is loosing direction in design recently, the new A6 looks like the A4 and A8.....

I had a look at an A6 recently and it doesn't look quite as 'A4' as I thought it would. It does pass more than a .er....passing resemblance however :D This family look thing is everywhere these days : Aston Martin are probably the worst for it. Shame on them for diluting a beautiful car
