millers CFS 5w40

Featured Replies

hey everyone

car is coming up on 5000k since last service so im going to service again  this time going for a more expensive oil, currently used quantum platinum oil in the last service but wanting the best oil possibe  have decided the millers cfs is pretty much top of the market, competition oil, not that i do track days but is good for spirited road use and just gives better performance

here it is,

http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_MOTORSPORT.htm

ive spoke to the guys over at opie oils and they say it is a top quality oil and may not meet 505.01 spec it far exceeds it. they also have a guy running a pd leon on fuchs pro s oil which is virtually identical and no issues.

just would like some more opinions on it

cheers

If you're running it at 5,000,000 mile service intervals I'd definitely go for the most expensive oil you can get!

There is no mention of any VW specs , although being Fully synthetic I would imagine it would comply.

I'm quite happy with XFE-PD from them, so I'm not going to buy any. I bet it is a lot more than £30 a bottle.

I guess you mean 5k (or 5,000) miles an oil change.

I used to run cfs 5w40 in the old type r, and it aint fooking cheap emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I've looked at the Millers stuff for the engine but f******* expensive so use Mobil 1 full sythetic which does meet and surplass all the VAG specs!!! Used this in all my VAG cars for 16years now!!! I do however use the Millers Motorsport gearbox oil (can't remember the full name) a bit sticky when cold...but bloodly brill otherwise!!!!!

P.S. he might right one day about the 5000K service internals.. the manufactures want longer service intervals and that ain't a joking matter...plus they want the MOT to be only every TWO years...theres enough F****** S*** heaps on the road at the moment...imagine if they get their way!!!! :o

Holy thread revival Batman!

Sorry to dig up this old thread folks, I'm keen about picking up some of this Millers CFS 5w-40 for my pd engine and although it's not VW 505.01 or above I've noticed that a few people put it in their tdi lumps with no problems and even some benfits. I was just wondering if anybody else tried it or has an opinion on it before i take the plunge.

Just run quantum platinum or the better longlife 3! Probably much cheaper too and is the correct oil

Changed my oil a few weeks back and filled it up with Millers Nanodrive 5w40. Noticeably smoother and less audible.

I had this is mine for about 1000 miles before getting scared on here so took it out lol didn't cause any issues. Would love to run some of that new nano tech formulae. Meant to be great stuff.

Is this the first time you've run it? I've read posts of people running the stuff long term and no issues. Prob be safe.

All the things I want to hear, cheers folks. That's the article that got me interested :giggle: Obviously I'm not expecting any noticable power gain but the super low friction and quieter running sounds good. That said it's obviously mainly marketing in action and should be taken wit a pinch of salt.

I'm pretty well sold on it, I just wanted to bring out any horror stories before i bought it, doesn't seem there is any!

Studying the two spec sheets of the CFS and castrols approved 505.01 the specs are similar for kinaematic viscosity (sheer strength) which is the only point of concern when considering the millers due to the high sheer forces produced by the PD engine. Gonna have to pick some of this up now haha

Some good reading.

Interesting the section showing the values of different oil grades. 5w30 is quite a bit lower and its reccommend so again the Millers will be great.

Eased my mind now lol

Awesome, great find Wilsy  A good bit of reading. As you say there's almost nothing in it between the specification values, bar the cold crank viscosity being a tad lower with the CFS. I've got a few k left until my next oil change but I kindly gave my 1l of top-up oil to a friend in need with a PD engine so the free 1l bottle from Opieoils will come in dead handy.

Im sold, buying mine now. Thanks all!
