Featured Replies

I want one and will be getting one towards the end of the year{Bang goes the RS}, if not a Bay window at least, anyone own or owned one?

Points to look out for etc,

Cheers

Steve

Don't know much about them myself but a friend at work is a VW nut and would probably be able to advise.

I'll ask him tomorrow

I recommend that you buy VolksWorld magazine. it's an invaluable resource if you're considerring buying a type 2 and doing it up. They also have some quality splitters for sale in the classified section. they recently had acouple of 23 window samba's up for sale that had been fully restored, but to the tune of

Got rid of my splitty towards the end of last year.

What kind of splitty are you looking for?

The most expensive will be a samba as good ones of those are like rocking horse poo.

What kind of interior - camping or bus seats?

The main things to look for are panels full of filler (take a magnet), excesive play in the steering (there will be some play) and have a feel under the arches to check if there are multiple skins.

If you are specifically looking for a splitty be aware of bays with splitty front panels fitted.

Are you tlooking for a runner or a project.

Have a look at these two sites.

and

(with VW relics be careful)

See you at Run to the Sun

IMHO Ultra VW is a much better read than VolksWold, its written by people who have a decent grasp of English grammar and the cars are usually UK based unlike the yank filled VolksWorld.

The Volksworld show at Sandown Park (Surrey) is coming up soon, its always worth a look.

See you at RTTS !

I've got a '69 Bug but I have to say that a splitty will be the next project. Personally I hate bay windows.
