To Sticker Or Not To Sticker?

Featured Replies

If you live in a colder climate, the alternative is to leave the heated rear window switched on for an hour or two, then do the same. Just trying to be helpful for our Northern European friends. :D

The first thing I removed, on the day I took the car, was to get rid of my dealer's ticker. It was a fairly chunky 2" high, 12" wide sticker, and I thought I'm not here to advertise their garage, so I peeled it off quite easily.

The "honest" sticker/s proved more tricky, and there's still residue on the screen from my first attempt. Time to get out the knife again, and beware of those elements. I didn't hit any the first time...

I can't understand why people don't remove the dealer stickers. Why spend thousands to buy a new car, then drive around giving free advertising to the people who took the money off you?

Good point. I once asked a dealer to be paid for advertising their company for the next two years, and got a very stiff response from the salesman! I finally persuaded him that it was worth a set of mudflaps and a set of mats, plus a full tank of petrol.

I still think they got a cheap deal......

I don't really mind the window stickers. What does annoy me, though, are the extra badges some dealers insist on sticking to the car. Dutton-Forshaw are particularly blatant; it seems that every other Peugeot around here has a Dutton-Forshaw badge on the back.

Took the time off Briskoda to really, really give the car a good wash-over and... stick the sticker on.

So it's there, nothing I can do about it now...

Pictures? Will have to await delivery of the Powershot G3 I ordered.

Oh, where I stuck it? Right above the top brake light - unlike Mrs Q, Mrs D4x4 was quite appreciative of the location... :p

Wanna swap? ;)

In light of the above, I somehow can't see how that would be a fair deal... ;)

Ok, I'll throw in a 3 year old as well? Good for cleaning chimney's, work in the mines, etc... ;)

The Dutch are blatantly suffering from a late Spring this year! If things get any more risque, this thread will have to be reported. In the meantime, any chance of some photos? thinks.gif

But I have an (almost) 5-year old who will outsmart you within a couple of years. As we speak he's reading up on ancient civilizations. Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar are amongst his most popular historic characters. Now who wants to swap? :D

Ah, but mine is bi-langual at the age of 3... Surely that counts for something? :p

BTW, I remember having seen some parts of an actual UK TV show involving men swapping their wives for a fortnight - but only to do the house-keeping and the child-minding, mind you. It was aired on Dutch commercial TV sometime ago, and looked like a ghastly programme to me...

Denis, there are pictures of my loved ones around on the Net, but I'm not sure whether you would be able to form an opinion based on them...

Who's talking about kids? I want to see some photos of the Briskoda stickers! BTW, I have a 23 and a 20 year old I would willingly give away for free. They don't do anything, nor have I found a use for them. They are however very good at cleaning cars - as long as they are their own.

As I said, I'll take a picture as soon as the Powershot arrives. I could make a snapshot with the old regular camera but there are still lots of exposures left on the film, so would take ages at the rate I am used to taking pictures...

Dutch - that wife swapping programme was actually some of the best television seen on our screens

this year. More a reflection on the rest of the programmes though I fear... ;)

Denis - 23 and living at home? Bah, I was married and mortgaged by that age... :D

Mine are mortgaged up to the hilt with their cars and mobile phones, hence also can't afford to leave home. I'm thinking of moving out instead and leaving them to cope with the real world. grumpy.gif

I'm lucky with my phone. My contract with Orange at Uni was

Is that a noisy, untidy, quarrelsome sort of place to live where people sleep on the sofa with the TV on all night instead of going to bed??

house prices...in fact, what would

I'll sweeten the deal, and just swap the hamster for the TVR... :p

Possibly.

But it's also a place where adult sons and daughters - the princes more so than the princesses - dwell in the comfort of having mom doing the cooking and the cleaning while dad busts his a55 long hours at work.
